Take the kids there when us adults want something different (kids always get the same thing!). I go to the one in Heartland

I ate there a few years ago, terrible, terrible food. Is it worse?

My feelings exactly.

Nickels was crap, I ate there once because it had a BOGO deli sandwich special. Even then I was tempted to leave the second sandwich I had wrapped up when I left. Funny enough, was a few stores down from the Ajax Applebees. Last time I looked it was a MP's headquarters or something....

Yeah that's the one I'm talking about. I went there way back in the day when my mom used to work at the Tootsies (not sure if it's still there; was like 10 years ago).

To this day I still remember it as being THE worst food ever.

Boil in bag garbage, just like all the other chain restaurants.

Support independant places with fresh food at good prices...

I go with clients to the Mississauga location.
We've never had bad meals.

Its no different than Kelseys/Jack Astors, etc.

You know, I had a couple of bad experiences with Casey's back in my university days. I avoided them for a decade. I once again had a BOGO coupon and tried it out. It wasn't nearly as bad as I'd remembered. Still, I haven't been back since....

With so many excellent independent/mom and pop places in the city I shy away from chains for the very reason they all serve pretty much the same Sysco/GFS/whomever pre-fab meals...

I enjoy Applebees, but will go there once in a blue moon, as pretty much everything on the menu is deepfried. It's good though, imo.

You beat me to it. I think I had the ribs (even bigger mistake). I never had the balls to try Nickels because I'd just knew it would suck, but since it closed, that ends that chapter. The only thing that I thorougly enjoyed less, was the Boston Pizza (same corner as well). I ordered ribs with the sauce on the side (I never need to sauce my own) and received stark white boiled ribs with burn marks on them.

Cross the street diagonally to Montana's and the ribs from there showed up so burnt on the bottom, the bones were stinking up the restaurant. At least Montana's has a smoker, but the 16 year old "chef" destroyed the ribs while he was arguing with his buddy over who has the largest muffler and more stickers on their cars. Don't get me started on the new Keg across the street either. I think those restaurants are all cursed. Half by the owners and the crappy food, the other half by the crappy staff.
