October Rush is over! Which games did you pick up?

So this month in gaming has been a huge one from the start until the very end. Tomorrow marks the end of this rush with Fallout 3 being released. Next month we have some games like Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, and Mirror's Edge to keep ourselves entertained. But this is about October, not November. :) I don't think ever before has there been so many high profile games being released almost simultaneously.

Which games this month did you pick up? Were they good/lived up to your expectation?

It's true that this Fall 2008 has been the biggest and best video gaming releases ever. Fall 2008 is truly the year of Video games. I have spent about $500 on video games software alone this Fall

I'm not sure how the PS3 Fallout port will turn out. If it plays like ass compared to the 360's I'll just wait and pick that up along with Far Cry 2 on the PC. *sigh I need to upgrade though...

I'm too behind on my gaming to pick up any of the others. I'll wait for a sale. I like to buy new since at least that way I know I count towards reported sales and devs get (some) of my money.

Was gonna pick up Motorstorm 2 as well this week but now after LBP ill rent it. I really cant be buying 3 new games in a month. I just bought 2 in Sept and 2 more is coming in Nov.

Potentially 7 new games bought in the span of 3 months for me. OUCH, sure hurts the wallet. :o But then again, I only bought 3 games in the first half of 2008, so it all evens out.

Im so glad that I got fable 2, Farcrap 2 and Midnight crap out of the way last week (rented them all) and didnt buy any of them...otherwise i would have a big log jam of games right now. None of those games lived up to the hype.

i only picked up Fable 2 CE. i'm saving up for next month with Banjo and Left 4 Dead.

i'll eventually pick up the big games like GoW2 and Dead Space sometimes after the holidays unless there's a deal that i can't pass

Likely getting Gears of War 2 and Banjo Kazooie next month. Possibly something else as well since I still have some BBV credit remaining.

I heartily disagree with the assessment that the rush is in anyway over. :D Next month marks the release of Gears 2, MK vs DC and in Dec. there's the new Prince of Persia game. Sure glad this year's not all about the shooters like last year.

I want Final Fantasy versus 13 more... but I'm guessing I wont be seeing that until as early as fall 09. I hope some interesting unannounced square-enix titles come out in between. but I'm guessing the Kingdom Hearts games would be out pretty soon..since US is taking the initiative to sell the remake of Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories in December...probably see the new ones getting here soon afterwards

Its been rumored that FF13 will be out in Japan on PS3 come next year's holidays.

Then 2010 will see the release of PS3 and 360 FF13 for the rest of the world.

Its due to the fact that SE has chosen to develop the PS3 version basically exclusively for Japan and then when that is done, they will work on its release and finally start porting it to the 360. At that time, they said they would work on the English VA's, etc........

FFvs13 I assume will come out after FF13 but may be 2010 for Japan. Nomura (the director) is a art director or something on FF13 so technically he is too busy to ramp up production of Versus. I believe he is also tied up in all those Kingdom Hearts games coming out.

Toys R Us had 25% off. I just asked a friend to pick it up from the States during the 40% off sale. After the conversion it didn't come to much more than the Canadian sale, but my TRUs were sold out.

It's cheezy, but hey, there's only so many Street Fighters, Dead or Alives, Tekkens and Soul whatevers you can take. Western fighters basically revolve around sports sims - Fight Night, UFC, wrestling, whatever - and most Japanese fighters rarely exhibit that sense of meaty impact that you crave sometimes. Too flashy, not enough grit.

Besides, this game lets me beat up spandex wearing superheroes in a non-anime-more-comic-book fashion, so it's worth a look at least. Too bad it doesn't have the Adam West/Burt Ward versions of Batman and Robin. I'd imagine quite a few people have always wanted to sock those two in the teeth at one time or another.

They got the atmosphere spot on, and in some parts I found it to be better than the original 4. It was pretty lengthy too (around 15-16 hours on normal). While the combat is much more action oriented than the originals, it's much more engaging and you need to think before you strike. This is the only Silent Hill where I've had to run from enemies instead of fighting (even in Silent Hill 3 on Extreme X mode, I could plow through everything).

It's definitely worth a rental at least. It wasn't nearly as enjoyable as Dead Space was, but it was good nonetheless.

Yeah. I should have cut Brothers in Arms and Midnight Club and put in Rockband and Guitar Hero. Good thing I have an others option. ;)

So anyone going to pickup Mirror's Edge or Call of Duty: World at War on Nov 11th? It's not October, but still. These are pretty big titles. Kind of on the fence about Fallout 3, but the three games I still want to get this year are Mirror's Edge, (maybe) Call of Duty: World at War, (maybe) Fallout 3, and Persona 4.

PS: There's a pretty good pre-order bonus for Mirror's Edge. You get a courier bag like the one Faith wears in the game.
