Ah. How unlucky of me. Just got mailed a quiznos coupon but I'm still afraid of the listeria contamination of some deli products. Is it safe to eat their subs or is there still a chance of listeria being among them?
Also, what if the sub is toasted? Does that cut down on any percentages?
It's been 2 months since I had a deli sub and now I'm dying to have one (no pun intended).
Also, here's the coupon for anyone interested, lol.

The crisis is over. Relax, have a sub.

I guess it should be fine.
But if you think toasting the bun will really make a difference.... it might be helpful to learn a bit more about food safety.

Just curious, which sub do you miss so much that you're dying to have one?

I believe Mr Sub was named as having a Listeria recalled cold cut product, but I don't ever recall Quiznos being named for having a Maple Leaf Listeria recalled product.

I think you're right about Mr. Sub. For a few weeks I kept getting calls from Mr. Sub in another Ontario city asking if "the product had been pulled" and "where is the paperwork". Those calls have stopped, so I guess Mr. Sub is OK to frequent again.

Ok, I'm back. I had a large 5 meat stack sub yesterday plus, they accepted the coupon. :D
Now, I hope I'm not infected. Although, the store did have a sign saying they were not effected by the recall but how can I trust them?

By law stores have to go by health canada rules. If they use maple leaf items they have to post warnings. Now with that said the virius for the most part only effect the old or the very young or people with weak immune systems.

Geez, people are talking as if Canada's meat is handled by a 3rd world organization. The contamination happened, and it was handled extremely quickly within days. It only affected a tiny fraction of the meat, and it was all recalled well beyond even what was necessary. The meat is safe, probably safer then most vegetables even (i.e. recent tomato recall).

Actually, toasting believe it or not will increase the percentages. Don't ever eat a sub again!!!

I love Quizno's, I usually eat there on Fridays at lunch. The listeria scare didn't stop me, I don't get the cold-cut subs anyway, I get the ones with big chunks of beef or chicken, and I am in good health, so I figure I'll be fine.

Funny thing is that I had never even heard of listeria before what happened at Maple Leaf. I doubt that most people had either.
Basically, it affects elderly people a lot more. The people who died were elderly people in old age homes for the most part.

Go ahead, get a veggie sub. There's probably about the same chance of getting e-coli from the veggies. In both cases, pretty miniscule.
For the money you pay for a sub though, most people want something a little more substantial than just veggies.

THANK YOU somebody who actually gets it. Its only kids under 3 months and elderly, frail people that die. The rest of us can eat all the subs we want and we'll be fine.
