Anyone know when coffee places such as Starbucks and Second Cup typically roll out their holiday/winter drinks and goodies? Things such as gingerbread lattes, candy cane hot chocolate, and special coffee (starbucks holiday blend).

I am pretty sure after Halloween, the Gingerbread Spiced Latte will be available at SBs! Can't wait, I've had all the Pumpkin Spiced a girl can handle this month! hehe

I THINK it's from second cup... i know they make a mean white hot chocolate. i don't know if timmy's makes any specific holiday drinks... i know they pump out a holiday mug each year.

Egg nog latte finally will be here again

November 13! Thanks for the info :)

It's a dark blend, like Yukon, with a bit of spice to it, but not as much as Christmas blend itself. I brew it at home as long as I can buy it. It's pretty good for $10/pound! I love Christmas blend myself, but I get a bunch as gifts every year so I don't have to buy it.

I am sipping my Gingerbread spice latte as I type:cheesygri! Your favorite holiday drinks are now in Starbucks!
Only thing you can't get is the Eggnog latte, Starbuck's is not letting its stores sell it till Nov. 13th.
They have there holiday pastries in too (since Saturday) but are not allowed to sell them until Nov. 13, now how fresh is that....yuck! I am glad I only get lattes.

Oh hey, I never got back to you about the SB hot chocolate! I tried the hazelnut hot chocolate and quite liked it. It was like a hot cup of one of those chocolates filled with cream. =D BTW, do your baristas cheap out on you with drinks too? It's a bit inconsistent, but I sometimes find they leave about an inch of cup left and it makes me wonder why I bother buying a grande when I only actually get a tall in a grande cup... =(

They give you an inch of room only if you get whipped cream just so the drink doesn't overflow and so customers can put the lids onto the cup.

See, that's what I thought, but I always specifically tell them no whip, but they still leave the extra room... I don't recall this ever happening at SC, only SB. =/

hazelnut hot chocolate sounds good....I'll give it another chance and try :cheesygri Depends on which SB I go. I go to a lot of different one cos I travel around the city. I was addicted to the mocha chip frap, which topped with chocolate whipped cream and the SB nearby my hse always cheap out and give me white whipped cream instead

Not at SB. I don't like my hot drinks with whipped cream so I always say no whipped cream but they still leave an inch of the cup left...

I work for SB and I always fill the drink to the top just because I know the price the customer is paying for. I know for certain that it is not policy to leave an inch of room at the top, probably depends on who is making your drink.

I want you for my barista! lol, yeah, it does vary, though I've found that it varies more by location than barista. I stopped by another SB today and they filled my cup to the top, as they always do. =)

I didn't try the Espresso Chocolate Truffle until today (for some reason I've been wanting a latte everyday :cheesygri). You're right, I find it doesn't have enoug chocolate taste to it. So I'm going back to the my latte next week. Maybe I'll try the eggnog latte cos of all the hype, but I never liked eggnog though :|

Yea same here, had one last year and thought it was kinda funky. But I guess I'm not that much into eggnog.. just gonna get a gingerbread latte next time I'm around a Starbucks.

Oh, try SB's new Peppermint Mocha Twist, it's really yummy (although mine was kind of lukewarm :( ). It tastes a bit like after eight and is so much better than SC's Mint Choco Latte. If you like SB's Mint Choco Frapps, you'll probably like this. :)

I usually just get my pumpkin spice lattes but all the new lattes are really good too. It really depends on what you're in the mood for. I've tried the peppermint one but that one really needs the whip to hold the little chocolate shavings. I usually get no-whip because I don't like very sweet things. I also tried the eggnog. Not bad. Oddly enough I found this not sweet enough, or just not enough eggnog flavour. I tried the gingersnap today and it was also really good.

Maybe someone of SB can answer my question.

whats the diff between the choc hazelnut hot chocolate and a hot chocolate with a shot of hazelnut in it. wouldn't it be cheaper to order it that way? This is assuming that they use the same hot chocolate in their signature hot chocolate and if you're SB rewards member you get flavor shots for free.

I remembered as I kid I begged my mom to get a cartn of egg nog cos it's a seasonal drink and the need to be festive, etc. I had a sip, spit it out and threw the whole carton out  I'll try the egg nog latte but I think I'll try it when my friend is around just in case I don't like it and I could give it to him:cheesygri

Mint and chocolate is my favourite combination!! ;) I'll try this one too thought I think it doesn't have a strong chocolate taste like the espresso chocolate truffle :|

On a side note, I love it how SB has these little toothpick like green stick for you to cover the little hole on the lid....no more spilling of coffee on my purse

i had a gingersnap latte at SB last week... it was ok. what are the chunks they put in? ginger?

looking for a suggestion for my next holiday drink... likely to be enjoyed while standing in the cold for the santa parade saturday :)

p.s. get your drinks made with non-fat milk, and skip the whipped cream...cuts the nutritional info down to a manageable amount.

I tried it today. I don't find it too sweet. To me, HC from Timmy's are sweet but this is not. It's quite enjoyable but I would prefer more chocolate taste to it. I don't mind getting it again but it's not something that I would crave for. It's good, but it's not very special .

hazelnut hot chocolate uses the starbucks signature hot chocolate mix. that's a different thing all together. the normal hot chocolate is pumps of mocha (2/3/4/5) + steamed milk like all the other drinks. the signature/hazelnut/salted caramel hot chocolates and the espresso truffle are made with the starbucks signature hot chocolate instead. it's somewhat thicker, but also quite a bit sweeter (which can turn some people away).

Also, with regards to earlier posts about leaving an inch of room.. it depends on the barista that's making your drink mainly (which starbucks you go to usually doesn't matter either). They're supposed to leave a quarter inch below the rim for whip cream, an inch is waay too much.

the chai eggnog latte is supposed to have espresso as well.. i hope your wife realizes that it's in there XD unless she just gets a normal chai eggnog and not the holiday one on the sign because that's what it's supposed to refer to.
