Just wondering who here plays DotA?
We should make a in house game for all the players or something =D

I started playing again, usually a game a night. Still the same as before, not much change. In public game, you still get the disgruntle player that leaves or curses throughout an entire game.

I usually avoid public games, theres also one idiot that leaves after first blood... TDA games tend to be a bit better, and better players.

Lets hope we can get more players and run an inhouse game... I can't host though =/

Add me on FooL.ArounD

Well I suck in Dota so playing isn't really enjoyable for me. But I love to play now and then.

there are a few of us playing a variety of war3 custom maps tonight if anyone is interested. We aren't playing DotA just just because we're all noobs. So we're gonna try something like AOS to start.

We'll be playing on Hamachi at 7pm GMT.

RD is definitely the most balanced, however there are still times where you get pretty bad matchups...

it would be cool if we could make an RFD clan or something...

I've been interested in playing this and I was wondering what I need. I can get the cd-key here http://www.mmo1st.com/cd-key-2/warcraft-3-reign-of-chaos-cd-key-6140.html for $7 and then download the image from blizzard, but what else do I need?

Thanks, sorry for thread jacking and didn't feel like making a thread for one response.

You basically have everything, all your missing is the DotA map, which you can dl at www.getdota.com ... download the latest version and put it in your maps download folder and your good to go... it'll take a bit of time to remember item builds and strats for heroes, but once you get the basics it gets pretty addicting.

-rdem is stupid, whoever is last on the list gets last pick... hows that balanced?

arem seems the best, everyone should master all heroes

blazing24

Your logic does not make sense, you're saying that one should master all heroes, so why should it matter that your last pick, if you've "mastered" all the heroes.

The reason rd is more balanced is because teams take turns in picking their heroes and the person who got last pick on the team had another team member who had first pick. Ar isn't balanced since the heroes are up to chance, there's gonna be unbalanced teams however in rd, both teams are able to counter each others picks and come up with a strategy of certain hero picks.

Regardless of these modes, at the end it just comes down to who the better player is.

easy, the last person has the advantage of seeing what is picked and has the ability to even out the teams with a wise choice. All really depends on playing style, how good you are with the heros left over and if its even a good pick.

Picking later can be advantageous since you can pick counters for previously picked heroes. For instance, picking a stealther first when a Slardar (or BH) is in the mix is just asking to have Faerie Fire on you for half the game.

AR can produce some truly ridiculous hero match-ups; I only play this mode when I want to goof off. A team of 5 late game agi / carry heroes has next to no chance vs. a team of 5 early game int / pushing heroes. I've been on both sides of this equation, and while it can be entertaining, it's anything but "balanced".

NEVER? its a very easy tactic that not only pros do, its like common sense.

lawlcakes. rd hasn't been around for that long, I have been playing since .20 and it was all -ar for any kind of official game for a LONNNNNNNNNNG time.

sure i guess rd is alright because it is balanced in a sense, but if you can't play all the heroes in -ar don't bother playing a league game. There is even a repick option if you get a stinker. Can't play either of the two random heroes you got? Go back and play more pubs to practice then...

never tried it but captains mode seems interesting as a concept.

lol trust me i've been playing dota much longer than you have... since the original DotA by eul on ROC, before tft was out, and i know that ar was all tda was back then... but ever since they made rd there hasn't been any ar games at all. Rd is much more balanced.

not to say you're bad at dota or anything but skill doesn't depend solely on how long you've been playing the game

just look at starcraft.. everyone's been playing it since it came out.. but there's some 10 year olds who are better than i am now lol =(

true, but i was responding to when he said "rd hasn't been around for too long and ar was the mode back in .20" I was around back then too, and tda isn't the best league to play in, theres actually a lot of idiots that get into games since they have an icon. I wouldn't call myself amazing, but i can hold my own in a league game.

the battlechess(t) is only $40.
So I started to play DotA again yesterday, seeing I rather play l4d and my ps3 games, but WOW.... More reason to stay away from pub games.
So many leavers and not even a decent game.

find a key saler online, and download the images from blizzard/battle.net itself

RD more balanced than AR...it's jank when you get 5 invis hero vs. slar/bh, or something equally ********.

mostly play sd...sdem to be honest. it's at least not ap, and it's not ar.

find me on my rfd username on east if yo uwant a game or so. usually on between 10-12 EST on useast.

Less than $20 if you already have WC3, and just need TFT. Then it might be $15-$20 since you aren't getting the battlechest (which I believe has the original, expansion, and strategy guide.)

Funny how people think 'ar' is pro-mode.

Best if you have inhouse and don't mind the extra time is ap draft with bans before you start. Then rd for balance most of the times, ar is fun but with good players hero balance can really mess up the games.

There are also the less common sd's which are okay, but I prefer the oldschool 'vr' mode that no one seems to know anymore..
