Hello,
So I'm shopping for a PSP for my boyfriend for Christmas. I know NOTHING about these things, sooo...
Where is the best/cheapest place to buy one? Is buying used worthwhile? Is the newer generation superior to the old one?

Cheapest place is kind of hard, since most places sell all video game stuff at MSRP. But, you have a lot of time to look for a good deal on one. Best place, well, they're mostly the same. I guess buy it from somewhere with a good return policy, just as a safety net, such as Future Shop, Best Buy or WalMart.
Buying used really depends on how much cheaper you can get it and your budget. I'm not quite sure what used PSPs go for.
The newest one that was just released 2(?) weeks ago has a much nicer screen and a microphone. So, it's not leaps and bounds better than the one that was already out, but it's a matter of how much the new, nicer screen is worth.
Also, if your bf will be looking to hack it, don't get the newest one.

Well on the BST forum psps are going for cheap, they are going for about 80-150$ some even come with 4GB memory stick with it and extras for 120$
and i see a few brand new ones for 180$ or so with receipts and some without.
But if you want cheap ones i would say Wal-mart is the place to go

You can try RCSS when there is a no tax event, even though most place sells at MSRP, hopefully another one coming up before christmas

Id say get one of the 2000 models when teh new 3000 models come out as they will probably be dropped in price like what they did with teh phats.

the internet just blows things out of proportion....... the new screen just shows what the ghosting covered up. not usually noticable.

About the hacking, I'm pretty sure he wanted to download games on it and all that jazz. I'm not sur ehow that works, but I assume its probably harder on a new one?

First of all this is one of those it may affect you more than others kind of scenario. Even Gamespot said that this problem will be more annoying to some than others. To say that it's not a problem is just stupid.

It's not possible (yet) on the new one.
