Don't know if it's the best, but I've recently discovered this little freeware one:
http://www.orbitdownloader.com/

I couldn't get it to work as a plug-in for Firefox, but in IE(6), it adds a right-click option to download stuff, as well as a little icon for you to grab the FLV video when one is embedded on the page.

If you don't want the browser integration, you can open a window which monitors your browser's traffic, so just click on the FLV URL when you load the website and tell Orbit to download it.

Really simple to use. Just right click anywhere on the page, and go to the downloadhelper menu, the flv should be there.
