I have an oem copy of vista installed on a new pc I built but I'm having problems installing programs on it (Crysis, Adobe CS3). I want to set up a dual boot system with XP and want to make sure I don't screw up the existing Vista installation. The hdd is a 1TB that has Vista on a 50gb partition. The rest is storage. To install XP, do I just proceed as normal and create a new partition from the unused 950gb? That way I have a 50gb Vista, 50gb XP and the remaining for storage. Does anything else need to be done? Will the 2 OS options show up on boot?

Thanks,
Mark

I've done this before. Yes, create a 2nd partition for XP, install XP on it, but then the XP boot loader will be the one in use, and you can't use the XP boot loader to load Vista. So after you're done installing XP and you can boot into it just fine, then put your Vista DVD back in and do a repair on it. This will replace the XP bootloader with the Vista one. Then you'll be able to dual boot.

I don't know about CS3, but I know crysis runs fine on Vista, so not sure what the problem is.
