I know when I buy from US I should always choose USPS because UPS and Fedex charge a lot of fees, what about the other way around?
should I use Purolator to ship to US if the package is not time sensitive?

I usually find that Purolator through eShipper is the cheapest option :)
And US Customs isn't a concern for most cheap (aka normal) items

I ship stuff to the US all the time (mainly using Canada Post) and have never had anyone complain about paying extra duty or taxes. From what I've read online about US customs, is you can ship up to $200 value and there will be no additional charges. Over $200 I'm not sure what would be a better way to go.

Is shipping Purolator any different from the other courier companies? Your items still need to pass through a customs broker and you still pay the brokerage fees. Or am I wrong?

Purolator now uses UPS to ship to USA, so the UPS rule applies...shipping over $200 USD would need to use Express class instead of Standard to avoid brokerage fee.

I've always been amazed at how much cheaper the brokerage fees are shipping into the U.S., compared with shipping FROM the U.S. into Canada.
