i would like to take a trip to japan next year and would like some info on how much it might/would cost and when the best/cheapest time is to travel to japan.
is there an all inclusive thing (hotel and food) for japan like they do for cuba and other resort places?

-what is the average flight cost to japan?
-how much would a tourist need to hold/spend to survive and have a little fun in japan for a week?
-how much is required per day to survive(food etc)
-any kind of sponsorship program to go there maybe as an aid or englih teacher or whatnot...
-any other tips/advices on deals and ideas are greatly appreciated.

i really want to make it happen and visit japan as long as it does cost too much...

thanks

It's actually cheaper then you would think. If you're looking for something all inclusive, try those Yokoso! Japan packages with JAL and JR.

-what is the average flight cost to japan?

Anywhere starting from $1100 during peak season to $600 or something when there's a sale during the off-peak season.

-how much would a tourist need to hold/spend to survive and have a little fun in japan for a week?

$1000 a week sounds reasonable, provided you account for shopping separately.

-how much is required per day to survive(food etc)

Even after you factor in accomodation costs, around $100 a day if you're frugal.

-any other tips/advices on deals and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Japan is a beautiful and fascinating country, and for railfans like myself, a boon to travel in. A Japan Rail Pass is highly recommended, while regional JR passes are also avaliable.

I've been planning a trip there myself and i can at least pass on some things I have discovered so far:

Airfare seems to be the biggest killer, as I haven't gotten below $1200 after taxes etc in all my searching (this is flying out of Ottawa so of course YMMV). If anyone knows WHEN these sub $1000 prices are please let me know :D

Right now, the yen against the canadian dollar is really bad so that is also something to consider ($1can ~= 80yen today) though that is likely due to the low oil prices so pricing could easily be thrown way out of whack.
