Hello.

I recently started playing WoW again and it seems like my 512MB DDR PC3200 isn't holding up well. I'm running a ATI Radeon X1600 video card. So I'm in search of the cheapest RAM I can find but I'm not 100% which RAM is the right one for my computer. Please comment if you can help, thanks!

The scan result I got from crucial systemscan,

Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048 MB
Currently Installed Memory: 512 MB
Available Memory Slots: 1
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: N.A.
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz Model 3, Stepping 3
CPU Speed: 3006 MHz

I have a Shuttle X PC btw, should I upgrade to a C2D as well? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

What indicator do you have that upgrading your RAM will solve the problem? I'm not saying it won't. Just wondering if maybe internet connection or cpu could be to blame as well?

I highly doubt it's the internet because its usually pretty good. I know the video card/cpu isn't up to date but I just hope upgrading the RAM will help a bit. I have the settings at Low/Medium right now, and I just want to play it at Medium.

You will feel a difference with more RAM for sure.

I know the game, but not familiar with the settings to guarantee some output of Y if you upgrade to Z. If you're going to invest $50, maybe investing $150 would go a lot further in the long run, especially if you play other games.

For example: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4242640&CatId=2417

I'm pretty sure all your current peripherals would work with this motherboard, but you would want to double check that; I don't know what you have specifically. Just buy a heatsink and another 512 of RAM and you've upgraded your whole machine to a new level of performance for ($150 - x, x being whatever you can get for your old cpu and mb. There are bigger jumps you can make if you invest more money. Just look around!

Get some used DDR on the buy/sell forum. Don't pay a lot.
