laptop: using an HP right now, probably won't ever buy one again. not a bad machine but i'd likely spend more next time and get a thinkpad (was on a small budget last year).
desktop: going to try and build one in the future when i need one

I couldn't believe that (at this point), more people buy Apple than all of HP, Compaq, Toshiba combined! Can this be true? Stats show HP (including compaq) almost tied with Dell for about 24-25% of the market. Apple has increased to about 10%. RFD is strong on mac users.

47 votes so far.

all pcs still in use

laptop 1 - compaq
laptop 2 - hp dv1000
laptop 3 - hp dv2500

pc 1 - cheap intel hp I got from work for $25. It's a p4 and does a decent job
pc 2 - built myself, used as desktop with my tv set
pc 3 - another cheap hp from work used as a file server

I also have two broken dell desktops I got from friends of the family to put back together to give to somebody else who needs a pc.

If I had the cash I'd build all my own pc's. As for laptops it's whatever I can find that is best bang for the buck. I'm saving up for netbook next, just not sure which one I am going to get.

Very good point BlueMax... I have a friend working an internship at "bank x". One part of the job was for "research" and it looked at forums such as ours. :cheesygri

Anyways:

Self-built: Intel, Samsung, OCZ, Nvidia, ATI, Coolermaster
Whole system: HP, Emachine
