Warm. Normal sale price is $99 for a 500GB, they do go as low as $69 at times...

I pm at BB today and get it at $84.99. I know Costco has the 650GB at $99.99. But I am planning to use it as my Bell 9242 external HD and I think it is better to choose the brand the Bell is selling for its PVF. Never use Lacie before, hope it is not lemon.

It doesn't shut down when my computer goes into standby.. which is why I like the mybook. Thats my only complaint after buying it for 109 14 months ago.

If anyone has seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, could this be the monolith?

Careful if it's a maxtor they're known to fail in the older lacie porsche enclosures.

i'd stay away from lacie's 1 year warranty stuff.
had one while ago, used as a hot backup device, died shortly after 1 year.
now I am using Seagate, comes with 5 year warranty by default.

don't be fooled by their cross promotion efforts... don't think it really matters what brand of hard drive you use with their PVR - as long as it meets their minimal requirement.
anyway - think this is a cold deal since Costco's got the WD 640gb for $10 more... no guessing of what HD is inside the enclosure - and you can't beat Costco's hassle free 90 day return policy... why deal with warranty when you can return it if there's anything wrong with it.

LaCie's website says this model comes with a 2 year warranty.
