Pretty good price. This looks like a new model? I've never seen it, only the one with the glossy piano black bezel finish. Any comments or reviews about this Magellan GPS? Text to Speech seems like a good function. How does updating Magellan GPS' compare to Garmin or TomTom?
Thanks in advanced, I have a family member looking to purchase a GPS.

I have the Magellan 1212 model. The only difference from the 1412 that I can see is that the 1412 is widescreen while my 1212 isn't. Excellent GPS though. Text-to-speech works great and it's very easy to use. Signal lock is very fast.

Thanks for the input Talamasca. I'm considering this or the Pharos 250 for $129.99 from the Dell Small Biz Deals.

I saw it can also do Multi-destination it sounds like a good thing if I have 2 or 3 places to go, but do any other gps offer this and should I even care? Also I saw this for $250 last week and $299 on bestbuy.com.
Multi-destination routing: Select up to 20 destinations and choose the order to plan a trip in advance and repeat the same trip again. Easily reorganize, add or remove destinations.

I own this GPS system, and personally, I dislike it. I have Tom Tom installed on my cellphone and I find navigating through things in Tom Tom is much easier. you can't preview route like Tom Tom can, and a whole bunch of functions are lacking. so my personal advice is avoid buying Magellan. but again, its how I feel, others might love this particular navigation system.

The Magellan 1212 model has a Simulate/Preview Route feature. Not sure if this is on the 1412 version.

although I don't know the model number off the top of my head, but I'm sure the one I own does not have a preview function. And at least reading the functions and looking at the pictures, it's identical to the one I have in my car.
