Keep in mind that the regular price of Sin City is $21.99. So it's a couple bucks off. Not bad anyway. The least they can do is try to keep the price of these as low as possible, since these are catalog titles after all.

It's a legit question. some high-def transfers are better than others, that's why you have sites like highdefdigest.com that regularly review blu-ray releases. It's important to know if upgrading to the high-def version is worth it or not because sometimes the transfer isnt done well.

Do some research next time.

Any review online? how's the video/audio quality.

I suggest people do some research before bashing anyone for their comment/questions~

Raxel was simply asking whether there are any reviews online about the bluerays @ FS.....I hope you all know that NOT ALL BLUERAY MOVIES ARE CREATED ALIKE!!

while some are excellent in video/audio transfer....others are terrible thus resulting in something that only performs slightly better than their DVD counterparts!

Don't just think that because a movie is made into blueray, the overall performance will be superb 100% of the time!! Gangs of New York for example, shows some poor video transfer so it doesn't do blueray any justice!!

But Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2 both have excellent video/audio transfer so they would be a worthy collection to add in your blueray library.

check out the site for more blueray reviews:
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/reviews_alpha.html

I always check this site before buying my bluerays because it'd be stupid to even spend $10 on a movie that's not worthy of blueray format!

opps....saw your post after I wrote mine!! Guess I wrote that for nothing!! =P But yeah, totally agree with you there!! Not all blueray are worthy upgrades since there are video/audio compression issues~ Some people are just so clueless~

Yeah not all discs are created equal (CD, DVD, BD, etc.). Basically it just depends on how much care and effort the studios put into the production of the disc.

The DVD for Sincity was superb though, and I am guessing that it would likely be a reference disc to test your monitor/player's ability for displaying blacks. Also since the entire film is pretty much computer generated (it's shot with a green screen after all) I would expect a really good transfer. Hopefully they are converting it from the original digital source instead of the film stock.

This is a Canadian only release, no American release date has been announced (it was postponed from this date). So Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de  :cheesygri I learned to ignore it. It's Amazon.ca

Overreacting is awesome.

P.S. Blu-Ray is a perfectly acceptable way to call it. You don't have to call it Blu-Ray Disc every time.

T2's actually an awesome transfer and a bargain considering it can be had anywhere for like 11 bucks. I've seen the dvd like 50 times and was still noticing things I had never seen before. I guess it's pretty bare on the extras but it was an early BR release and no doubt a special edition will come eventually.

well this blu ray review site everyone is raving about gave it 4/5 on video quality. if that's "horrid" and a waste of 12 bucks then to each his own i guess.

Considering the only other HD release so far is a german import HD DVD that my cousin spent like 40 bucks on I think the alternative is a fair enough one.

You can buy UK Blu-ray version, it's director's cut, no special features though. But video quality looks as good as Germany HD-DVD version. Now amazon.co.uk is having a 3 for 2 sale. T2 is in it. On average, it's about $20 each shipped.

It's region free, I believe.

I really loathe it when they screw up a previously stellar transfer because they rushed it or whatever...ie xmas release.

Is kill bill first timer on BD? I guess we are down to that and sin city since I was gonna go in on Gangs too. I don't really need any special features I never watch them anyway and just waste my cash on em. No time for things like that unfortuneately, I barely get to watch movies once lol

Just picked up KB 1&2. I was going to pick up Sin City but to my surprise, the best audio it has encoded is just DTS. I would have expected maybe uncompressed pcm or one of the compressed hbr audio platforms. Since I already have SinCity in DVD format, I didn't want to double dip unless it has both great video transfer to Bluray and a hbr audio track. Maybe there may be better version that comes out when the US gets theirs?!?! I will wait.

Yo, in fact I did a double take when I looked at the back of the SinCity BluRay package when I was at FS today, and I was certain it said just DTS. I did not see DTS-HD Master, because that was what I wanted to see.

I also realize that the review link article above provided mentioned DTS-HD Master, but even when I click the picture showing the rear of the bluray jacket in the link, it only says "English DTS, English 5.1 Dolby Digital".

So what gives?!?!?

So for those who have watched it, did show up as DTS-HD Master on the audio setup options?

Thanks.

[Incoming Futureshop Bash]

For Vancouverites - don't bother trying to get ANY of these movies at Futureshop Robson & Granville. Not only do they have the most disorganized blu-ray section I've ever seen, but nobody is even bothered to help customers (they're all in the back room chatting on msn - should have taken a picture. I HAVE had good service at this location before in their AVS section tho). I had to stand in line at CS to get some help, and after proving to the guy they had no copies ("Did you look here? are you sure you didn't see any? maybe you missed them" etc) he looked it up and said they were "sold out".

[/bash]

I'm going to try broadway tomorrow, which actually has a well kept blu-ray section and the preferable "swarm" style employees.

btw sin city blu-ray is reg price 19.99 at bestbuy i beleive..

also for those interested.. rogers has 25% off blu-rays right now.. used ones.. so all of their 19.99 ones would be 14.99.. not too bad..

I noticed a few stores have stock on the product page but in checkout they don't show up as eligible for whatever reason.

maybe a new promo comes out today in the new flyer. I'd love to know why they keep trying to drop stock on these titles :)

Shows $12.99 in a search, but $19.99 on the page for me, and $12.99 in my cart.

We got the flyers tonight and there's no meantion of $12.99 BDs.

Looks like the product pages have been taken down at the Future Shop web site.. it's odd though, because I went at lunch time to pick up Sin City at my local FS and the price for that (and From Dusk Till Dawn) in the system was still $19.99. I got the $12.99 price for Sin City though, but I wonder if it could all have been some kind of screw-up online?

I had both pages posted on another site... both are dead. :(

I'm still waiting to see if my in store pickup will come through.

I also have a printout so I can hopefully get a price adjustment done on the copies I bought last week for amerifriends.

I printed off the $12.99 page from the web site this morning and went to FS to get a price protection match from my last week purchase of Sin City of $19.99. When the CSrep, went online to verify, Sin City bluray was removed. Anyway, since I had a print-out, they were nice enough to honor their price protection policy and credited me back the difference. That was cool of them.

Thanks for the heads up. Placed my ispu at the North York Centre location over the weekend. Received my confirmation for From Dusk Till Dawn, had Sin City cancelled. Placed a backorder for shipping, but I'm really not expecting much from that.

Showed up at the North York Centre location for my pickup. Decided to head upstairs and found a copy of Sin City tucked away in the blu-ray section. Brought it downstairs, prepared to point out that it was canceled due to no store stock, when the CSR walked over with a bundle of two movies, asking me if I ordered 2, since my confirmation showed only one.

Long story short, I got both "From Dusk Till Dawn" and "Sin City" for $12.99 each. :D
