Just a heads up for anyone who has pre-ordered a Rockband 2 bundle.
If you're like me you'll want a second guitar.

Future Shop is showing online stock(and some in-store) of the new guitar and drum set.

Have a feeling these will be gone fast..

Fully wireless, the Rock Band 2 guitar lets players vicariously jam out as some of the best guitarists, bassists, drummers and singers of all time.

Rock Band 2 features a track list that puts all other music games to shame with more than 100 on-disc and free downloadable tracks from some of the most hallowed bands of the rock pantheon.

Note: This is a description for the wireless guitar only. It does not include the game Rock Band 2.

FYI I don't know about the drums but I saw the guitars at London Drugs (Regina) last weekend.

I'd definitely advise people to pick up a GHIII Les Paul or the New Guitar Hero guitar that's coming out shortly, because the Rock Band guitars are a big step down... Rock Band rules all, but the guitars are kind of weak.

I have all the guitars for 360 and I'd say Xplorer > RB2 Strat > Les Paul > RB1 strat

the extra buttons are also amazing for solos

What's the difference between the RB2 guitar from the first one? From my experience, the first one was a major pile of crap. Instead of coming out with a much needed clicky strum bar, they made the frets sticky instead. Completely baffling. Makes it nearly unplayable.

the strum bar isn't mushy anymore(it doesn't click but that's a good thing imo)
it has an auto calibration sensor for calibrating lag with your tv as well

yeah and it's $20 at BBV (for the Les Paul). quite hard to pass that up

Does the RB2 Strat works in GH2 or GH3? I heard the RB1 didn't but nothing about the new one.

WHAT WHAT WHAT! Must buy!

I have 4 360 guitars in my house (and 2 PS2 ones) and none of them work 100% except for the Rock Band one which I refuse to touch...

If I can get a new Les Paul for $20...

Still I think the new GHWT one looks good and apparently plays well (I'm waiting for the drums too)...

Anyone know if this is compatible with the old GHII and GHIII games, and the upcoming GH:WT (on the 360 particularly)?

Definitely compatible with GH:WT. I don't know about GHII or III but I would suspect it probably does work with them too.

How do the wireless ones work? Is it through wireless USB adapter?

I just picked up a GH Xplorer wired guitar for 54 bucks at EB - 38 worth of credit ... so it was 20 bucks... I don't know man..

According to these guys, the RB2 guitar isn't compatible with GH3 or GH2:

Different strokes I guess, because I have played all 4 guitars and would rank them Les Paul >>>>>>>>> Xplorer > RB 2 Strat > RB1 Strat.

Thanks OP -- really got me itchy. But I think I'm going to hold off until the end of the month for Guitar Hero World Tour instruments to come out.

No. They work the same way as the wireless Xbox 360 controllers do.

Thanks, looks like a useful chart. I'll probably wait to get a GH:WT guitar to maximize compatibility with all the games. I'll stick to my Xplorer for now.
