TMNT (360) is an easy 1,000 gamerscore for those that care about such things. All you have to do is play through the story, and it's an easy few hour sitting. Not as easy as Avatar: TBE (hehe) but still, $4.99 for 1,000 is usually seen as a pretty good deal. :)

What does gamerscore even do? I noticed that people have that number beside their name on my XBL but I have no idea what it means or why I should care what it is

It's nothing useful. It's just points you earn for unlocking certain "Achievements" in Xbox 360 and some Games for Windows Live (PC) games. Some people (http://www.mygamercard.net/leaderboard.php) like going out of their way to collect them, and some people really couldn't care less.

It has to do with how big your e-penis is.

Gamersocre was a cool concept but Microsoft made some big mistakes with it

1) Forced all XBL games to have at least 1000 points
2) Did not enforce any kind of criteria on the publishers for the points
3) Do not allow publishers to award as many points as you want
4) Do not allow players to view gamserscore breakdowns by game (would be in combination with 3)

If all of these were implemented gamerscore would be MUCH BETTER and more useful. You would be able to "specialize" in particular games, racking up achivement points for them only. Then when you go match up against people on XBL you know ahead of time what game they spend most of their time in, vs. the current status quo where all you know about someone who has a really high gamerscre, is that htey have a bunch of extra cash and free time to rack up all the idiotic achivements available by publisehers forced to include them.

You've put way too much thought into a meaningless stat.

They shoulda given out free XBL Points with the higher Gamers score you have or something. That would make sense. Like an AirMiles for video games.

I didn't put any thought at all into it. This all came to my mind basically the instant I was told how it worked. "Well thats stupid" I said, "this is how it SHOULD work"

I always have ideas like that :P

I have to admit, its an ingenious idea by MS. Think of how many games have been purchased that normally a person would never buy, but due to the need of getting more points, they bought/rented/etc.

I know I'm guilty of initially going after some games like King Kong and TMNT. I started racking up some points about to 7000 and then stopped. I do try to get the random achievement here and there. But never really set out for it.

Some achievements are just so hard, that it makes u want to get it at any cost. COD4's Mile High Club Achievement took me a solid 4-5 hours of playing 50 second level over and over again until I got it LOL....

but it was sooo, sooo worth it to see "Achievement Unlocked" pop up on my screen :cheesygri

i would have never thought of playing kids games but with the achievements/gamerscore system, i did and quite frankly, i don't regret any of it. some of the games are quite fun even if it's quite short and made for kids like Open Season. i had a blast playing it :D

Achievements are fun. I don't see the point of playing games that aren't fun to get them, but if I'm getting a game Achievements are a great enhancement. I'm getting a lot more hours out of Tales of Vesperia trying for different achievements than I normally would have.
