Hey, it's a PG guy. Cool

Good deal for a very useful all in 1 ladder. Bought mine for around the same price about a year ago. Be warned though, these are heavy.

yeah I was going to buy one but then I picked it up and the weight was definately an issue. I guess its a 21 foot ladder but even at that length I would have thought it would be lighter

From the pic it looks like it is not over 17 feet. I searched Costco's site and there is no 21 foot ladder listed there, but maybe store stock is different.

Literally, HEAVY. It's more than 50lbs. Little giant is much lighter with the same rigid feel to it.

I have this ladder from last year's sale. It is amazing! Great for any high work and you feel super sturdy on it ... the trade off is that it is very heavy though. It's the perfect ladder for big jobs but you might want to have a light aluminum jobie for changing light bulbs.

I have my eyes on this ladder for a few months.

So this is a good news when it comes on sale. But couple of reviews from amazon is making me to think twice.

Can anyone actually have this ladder and use it on full length comment on this?

Thanks.

That's not true. It's about 43lbs. Little giant (22' model) is only a pound less and is expensive.

I bought this ladder last time it was on sale. I think it's a great deal.

It's a great ladder. Very easy to adjust. I used it this summer to paint some 2nd story window frames.

There was a skid full at Costco Burlington as of last night.

This ladder is awesome. Bought it around this time last year when it was $99 with coupon.

This is without a doubt the best deal I have ever gotten at Costco, and maybe the best deal I got all last year. 100% satisfied with it, I have used it many, many times in places my old ladder would have been useless.

For comparison the simmilar 21' version at Walmart is > $200 and at Home Depot is almost $300.

ICouple of reviews from amazon is making me to think twice.

Can anyone actually have this ladder and use it on full length comment on this?

Thanks.

"The top extension was bending and was in the process of separating from the lower section. This ladder is rated for 300 pounds and I weigh 190."

Well I weigh ~ 210 and have been up and down this ladder at about 50% of full extension at least 10 times, and I will tell you, it would take a lot more than my weight to get it to bend. It might be rated at 300lbs but I bet it could easily hold 400lbs.

I think whoever wrote this review is either full of it or they had somec razy defective ladder.

In any case why worry - you have the Costco return policy backing you up. NOthing to lose.

Have this ladder from about last year(?) and although it is relatively heavy, it came in very handy when I had to do some work over an area with stairs. The flexibility in setting up with the ladder is a great plus!

Just picked one up at Ajax costco. They have a whole skid if anyone 905 east is looking for one.

It is bigger than I thought though. Almost had no room for the wife and kid in the car. Close call, almost had to carry the thing home.

Bought one a few months ago - easy to use, to open, to extend etc. Very solid and stable both as a normal A-frame ladder and as an extension ladder. I had it at full extension up on the side of the house and went all the way up - a bit bouncy but felt really solid. Also you can have two people on it at once - both sides have steps, and with my bro-in-law and me on it (prob 350-400 lbs total) it was solid as a rock replacing ceiling light fixtures.....

The main drawback is its weight - I'd be very surprised if the weight was 43 lbs. I'm no weakling and this thing is a beast to get upstairs, etc. I'd guess it's more like 75 lbs. Like someone else said, I'm looking for a little 6ft fiberglass ladder for in-house use.

I am having someone to install my windows at the moment. I asked them about their opinions on the cosco 'greatest ladder'.

They said that they are good for the house but not good for commercial use. It turned out they had some of those cosco ladders in their window business but the hinges failed after some use, likely because of dust and rain. In the end, he said the ladder is good for house use and he have no concern how much weight it can take.

So I suppose it is important to keep the hinges clean. You don't want it to fail when you are on it. That is no much help if you fall off the ladder at full height...

this ladder may be the one that is too big that consumer reports says is unsafe

"CONSUMER REPORTS SAFETY ALERT"

Safety alert
We judge 13 ladders ‘Not acceptable’

In our single-person use tests, several problems prompted us to judge seven 22- to 26-foot multiuse models from Cosco, Little Giant, and Werner Not Acceptable. In our tests, we found it extremely difficult for one person to safely lift, maneuver, and fully extend those ladders. All of those multiuse models also posed a crushing hazard to hands and fingers between the ladders’ upper and lower sections as we attempted to extend them and then collapsed them for storage.

We believe that you’re better off choosing a conventional, Type IA extension ladder for taller around-the-house projects that are 17 feet high or higher above the ground.

NOT ACCEPTABLE
Multiuse ladders that extend beyond 17 feet.

Cosco
20221-TIA

Little Giant
M 22 Types I and IA aluminum; M 22 Type IA fiberglass; M 26 Type IA aluminum

Werner
MT-22; MT-26

These were extremely difficult for one person to safely set up and fully extend in our single-person use tests; loss of control may cause them to fall onto people or property. Fingers can be crushed between upper and lower sections while attempting to extend or collapse ladder.

I think they must have had a little girl writing this report - it is not difficult at all to extend this ladder. I tis not *THAT* heavy people.

I would hate to see some of these people try to use an old fashioned wooden extension ladder if they had trouble with this one!

I think folds up pretty small. You can probably stick in the trunk or fold down the seat. If can't fold down back seats, just open back seat door and slide it in!?

I read somewhere, maybe an older Costco 21 ladder thread that it went into someone's Rio.

It fits inside my 6 foot long box of my compact pickup truck. You shouldn't have a problem if your rear seats fold down flat.

I have this ladder and use it frequently. After seeing the videos of how easy it is to cut your fingers off (literally, cut your fingers off), I've just been careful when adjusting it.
Recommend to wear thick work gloves when changing settings and lie it flat on the ground, make adjustment, then flip the ladder over, and make the other adjustment. Just my recommendation, and it's worked for me.
Great ladder, bought it at $89, but I think this is still a great price for $119. If you can wait, it'll likely go back on sale again next spring. It has for the past three to four years gone on sale at Costco.

I wonder what their safety reports on home exercise equipment are like? Ah, these weights are way to heavy to be safe....

Yes, it's a moderately heavy ladder. If you only need a 6' stepladder, don't buy it. If you take reasonable precautions while setting it up (including getting a second person to help you if you cannot lift it!) the stability, versatility & strength of this ladder make it far safer than an ordinary stepladder or extension ladder. I actually bought one after my wife fell off our old ladder. This one is too heavy for her to move by herself (she claims). So she is much safer now since I'm the one doing the windows!

I have this ladder and use it frequently. Our cathedral ceilings at home and our A-frame cottage can now get the ceiling attention to dusting that it deserves. However, after seeing the videos of how easy it is to cut your fingers off (literally, it can cut your fingers off!), I've been careful when adjusting its height.

I recommend to wear thick work gloves when changing settings and lie it flat on the ground, make the height adjustment, then flip the ladder over, and make the other adjustment. Just my recommendation, and it's worked safely for me.

I've used it at the full 21' and it wasn't wobbly up top or unstable at the bottom. Of course, you should always have a spotter below going that high. I used it to pressure wash our external windows at home, and used it to clean and pressure wash the gutters last weekend at the cottage. It fits in the hatchback of the Pious (errr, Prius) with the rear seat down.

Great ladder, bought it at $89, but I think this is still a great price for $119. If you can wait, it'll likely go back on sale again next spring. It has for the past three to four years gone on sale at Costco, with the coupons.

Costco on Merivale in Ottawa has a few in stock still. 21' for $119 ($30 off) and the 14' model is $89. It's heavy to carry around the store with one hand, but otherwise, it's not horrible given the multiple uses.

Side note, it has an annoying amount of plastic shrink wrap on it. Such a waste.

This is good for outside stuff. Otherwise, at less than half the weight, a six foot fibreglass ladder is better for indoor duty. Recently, I bought both. Both were good deals IMO.

OKay, I bought two of them and used them as a scaffold. Of course, I'm breaking the rules for scaffolding. I'm going about 7ft off the ground. hehe.. But just a word of caution it ain't suppose to be used this high so be very very careful.

It makes a great step ladder too and would be amazing when painting the wall around the staircase and as a scaffold to paint trim on at wall/ceilings - 8+ft at at time but as a ladder to go climb and paint 2nd story windows... Too heavy for me to bring it up carefully. Need two people. I think it's easier just to borrow my uncle's 20ft ladder for windows but it's a little shaky that one at best. I probably need to invest in a seriously tall ladder to check eaves one day too.

Too bad I wasn't thinking about ladders last year for $89. Still a great deal when i saw a similar one (same height) for around $300 at HD.

Update: Nice, since I have 2 ladders, I have two pairs of scaffolds. Too bad, it's too short for my purposes. I needed 7+ft scaffolds. I didn't know the ladder can come apart to form its own scaffold. Haha... I was wondering why the scaffolds are so short (I just thought they were two unextended ladders).
