Hi guys,

I need to drive from Toronto to Detroit, when I check the map on maps.google.com:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&saddr=toronto&daddr=woodbridge+st,+Detroit,+United+States&hl=en&geocode=&mra=ls&sll=42.331151,-83.036921&sspn=0.001888,0.003433&safe=on&ie=UTF8&ll=42.851806,-81.78772&spn=1.916898,3.515625&t=h&z=8

It says there are two toll roads:
1. Turn left at Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
Toll road
Entering United States (Michigan)
2. Detroit-Windsor Tunnel turns slightly left and becomes Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
Partial toll road

Do I have to go thru these toll roads since it's my first time to drive there? How much are they going to charge me? Any suggestions for the route?

Thank you.

You are paying to cross the bridge into US or tunnel into US and conversely
if you cross back into canada Last time I crossed it was around $4.
Bridge is faster to cross over!

i would take the toll roads. it's not that much. you won't be paying more than $4 or $5 in total and you save a lot more time.

Yes.

How much are they going to charge me?
Just a few bucks like others said.

Any suggestions for the route?
Not really unless you are going to the northern part of Detroit (through Sarnia). Another toll road, though.

The instructions are misleading. There is no toll road, they are using that term to refer to the tunnel itself. I live a block from the tunnel entrance, use it all the time and was born and raised here, there are no toll roads or tolls except for the tunnel itself.

Thanks guys.

Did the maps.google.com show the best route from Toronto to Detroit? If it did, I will follow exactly what the map says to drive.
