As the title says, there is a cat outside my apt off and on that I think belongs to one the tenents in my building. S/he is frequently trying to get in to my apt when I am unlocking my door or going out. Why is she sitting outside my apt so frequently? I don't know. Only once or twice I felt the poor thing is hungry and I gave some from my tuna can. Since there is a tag around his or her neck so I don't want its owner to come to me for making their cat sick or some thing when I am not sure about cat's feeding habits. The problem is the cat is outside my apt since last night and still there and now she/he is mewing kind of louder and louder. I again think the pet is hungry and thats why getting louder. Any suggestions?

Now the cat sees you as a source of food. That's why she's coming back.
Since there is a tag around his or her neck
Common sense would lead me to ask...Why don't you look at the tag?...there might be an address or phone number there that you can use to contact the owner and give them their pussy back.

That was more than a month ago, I have not fed her again. I am pretty sure owner knows that their kitty is outside but why do they keep her outside is weird I think.

I tried reading the tag but it is not clear to read and it is so tight around her/his neck that when I touch it the pet is not comfortible.

Anyway you can LOOSEN the collar? maybe this is why shes meowing:confused:
ask one of your neighbours if they recognize the kitty..personally i hate pet owners that let thier cats roam free...anything could happen, im sure someone will let the cat outside & then So long kitty..
stupid owners!

Don't feed the cat tuna from a can. Sodium is very bad for Cat's kidneys or liver, don't recall at the moment.
Cats meow for attention, I think a cat can remember if he/she got fed once a month ago by you. So, the cat is probably after your food. If you are nice, buy a bag of generic cat food and leave it out your door on a bowl. But that usually attracts other unwanted visitors as well.
I dont see a problem with you feeding the cat in front of your doorstep. If the owner doesn't want his/her cat to eat from people the cat shouldn't be an outdoor cat. But Im not a lawyer nor a legal expert. The cat can eat from a garbage for all we know.

Thanks for suggestions guys. My both next door neighbours were out and actually it was really quiet today in my building. Some people are back and probably therefore the cat is gone now. Any way, I am gonna buy some cat food tomorrow as stores were closed today and I know I am gonna see Juanita (or Juan) again very soon :).
