It is my first time to hunt gas mower. Just found one at Sears store on sale. "CRAFTSMANTM/MC Gas Mower 21" Multi Cut", $369.99->$269.94 (http://www.sears.ca/gp/product/B001E2XPGY/ref=pd_huc_gp_1/105-6242815-8399632?ie=UTF8&searsBrand=core). Is it good to buy? Thanks.

If you do buy it, look for some discount coupons in the hot deal section to get this price even lower. Not 100% sure if the coupons will work on clearance items?

Before Honda, Briggs and Stratton and Tecumseh were making and installing small engines in almost every mower and blower and they still are. Both are extremely reliable and have been around for many many years. The folks you hear about who claim to do nothing to the mowers for 15 years and it starts every spring are often one of those engines.
I would not suggest you spend any extra money for an engine. The price difference is not worth it.

I tried the coupons from Sears thread - none worked. Also, they had one mower for $170 2 weeks ago, now $229 - I missed that :(

Hi Coach, beside Honda engine, is Craftman using one of Briggs and Stratton, and Tecumseh? Or Craftman has its own engine as well? Thanks.

Actually, it says in the lawnmower specs what kind of engine is in it. Both of those engines are solid as a rock. You would not have problems with either. I personally do not feel that the extra expense of having the name Honda on the motor is value added.

Sorry, but I personally disagree.. Don't get me wrong B&S and Tecumseh are great engines, but given the choice, I would spend a little more to get the Honda engine.
Actually, I think I recall the Craftsman Honda lawnmower being on sale a few months back for about $270. So I would wait it out until they come on sale.

I can see the Honda stamp on your forehead (and in your name) so I am not a bit surprised you disagree but, it is a personal reason with no data to back you up. Honda is not any more powerful, nor mechanically better, nor more reliable than the others, just more expensive.
Once you become a member of the flock and a true Honda evangelist, it doesn't stop at cars does it? :cheesygri

The data to back it up is reliability, read about it and you'll see. I stand by Honda because it's very reliable, so if there is a product that has a Honda name on it, I'm more inclined to buy it because I know that if it is well maintained it will serve me a long time. You could probably say the same with the other types of engines however again it's MY personal opinion. What's it to you anyway..
Atlantic_man... It seems that sears are really limited on their selection of lawnmowers now, so it's probably best to wait until spring to pick one up.

Woo Hoo, mellow out Honda guy. Your hood ornament is glowing. :)
Briggs and Stratton and Tecumseh have been around for 100 years. I would suggest that perhaps they have a certain reliability as well. To each their own and if you want to pay the premium for a Honda, go for it.

Thanks 98vtec, it seems that it is better to wait untill next spring coming, since I may not need it most likely in this season.

How much would they charge for shipping? I bought one from the Sears store less than 2 months ago, can I still price match?

I found it in store (Kingston) as well. Not shipping fee and plus Scratch & Save ($200-100) is applicable.
