I and My wife had a very a very bad experience with G H Jonson for the furniture we ordered from them including two dressers, one small table, one sofa, and two matching chairs. There were so many pitfalls with G.H. Johnson’s service and delivery.

First, it is the delivery guys. For the smaller dresser we ordered, they kept sending us the wrong model twice and only got it right the third time. Most of time their delivery guys would not want to listen what was wrong with the furniture they delivered. They always asked us to keep the furniture and call G.H. Johnson later to solve our problems. We also had to insist on the delivery guys assembling the furniture for us. G.H Johnson’s delivery guys were not happy with the request although that was part of the service we purchased. In addition the delivery guys were also not very careful when they moved furniture around my house, and they have made a long dent on my new hardwood floor when they moved the sofa.

Second, G.H Johnson’s sales people were only good at making the sales but not providing the service. We ordered a sofa and two chairs two and half months ago, total cost $2938, we paid full amount upfront. Around two month later, our order arrived but there are quality issues. The color of the chairs was not what we have ordered for and is different from the color of the sofa. The cushions of the sofa are made of foam with different density. We notified the delivery personnel right on the spot the quality issues but they refused to take the products back.

We contacted the store the same day but G.H. Johnson’s sales people were not responsive to our complaint. We have been kept calling them since the date we got the products. For the period between Sep 18,2008 and Oct 11, 2008, none of the sales people we’ve talked to has give us any positive assurance that they will solve the problem for us. The customer service manager Mark even didn’t even show up for the appointment we had with him for furniture inspection, and wouldn’t even bother to pick up his cell phone. Therefore, we visited G.H Johnson on Oct 11.2008.The sales people told us they have done nothing wrong and denied all their responsibilities. Therefore, they refused to let us return the products and give us 100% refund. Also they asked us to contact the manufacturer on our own if we want to negotiate any discounts on the products. As we complained to the manager Pat the bad service experiences we had with the store, he insulted us by pointing at our noses, threatened to call the police and chased us out of the store.

As G.H Johnson’s customers, we are the victims of its unfair business practice. When we purchased our products, the salesman didn’t tell us we cannot return the products even when there are quality issues with the products. He also failed to point out to us or give us any chance to read the unfair terms at the back of the invoice. He filled out the form for us and asked us only to sign at the bottom of the sheets. Even according to the term at its back, there is no specification as to we need to pay for 25% restoring and handling charge. Actually we have let the G.H. Johnson store the defect furniture at our home for about a month without charging any fee from them.

So now we have to resort to the legal process to get our money back. We will keep updating everyone in the future.

Maybe we don't want to be updated. Especially if you're going to make duplicate posts just to get your point across. (eg: you posted this in shopping discussions as well).

Hi all,
Last year we bought a bed and 2 night tables, delivery took a double of promised time, 3 extra visits (to replace damaged parts and different night tables), not to mention a few dends in the casing of our doors.

Secondly, they took whole amount from our visa, right after we made a deal and multiple calls to management, went unanswered.....promised to give us our money back......empty promise.

Summary: a nice selection of nice products of a good quality, but their service sucks............thus stopping us from another purchase from them.

I had a simliar experience with them. Nice selection of stuff at good prices but the staff was awkward to deal with.

We also ordered a bedroom set and when the delievery company arrived, they refused to put the set together as promised. They said we would have to take it up to management at GHJ. They also claimed GHJ always promise their customers delivery and set up to "get the sale". But they have to answer to their boss and they don't set up furniture. In the end they put it together for my wife. I would much rather put together the set myself as it's not hard and I can assure it's done right, but its the fact they promised it and met with such resistance which ruined the experience.

I had the problems with them too. Bought 8 dining room chairs, 1 of which the arms were coming apart (cheap made in china stuff, probably). Plus the delivery guys didn't take away the boxes as the salesman told me they would. I called CSR, and first time around he was quick to respond. Delivery guys came back and took all boxes away, took back the bad chair and gave us replacement.... but the same arm was even more separated. Tried to call CSR again a few times, either they were "not available" or they didn't return my call. I gave up after a few tries and ended up glueing the arm down myself with crazy glue.

Service can be pretty bad, but that's probably why you pay so much less up front. Just prey that your order is right the first time around.

The boss (wife) has dealt with them many times, great prices and never a problem.
