Hi, on our 30yr old house 2 toilets sometimes won't stop filling. I don't know anything about plumbing, is this easy to fix?
After somebody flushes the toilet it fills the water, its on the right level but the water won't stop running.

probably needs a new rubber or plastic flush valve at the bottom of the tank. also check to see if the water is going down the overflow tube, could be a worn out valve. If the toilet is old chances are you won't be able to find new parts for it so you might have to buy new

when i lift the float it stops. So i guess I'll have to find a way to bend it lower or try the homedepot anti siphon valve.

Then bend it. It costs nothing.

you don't bend it, there is a screw on it to make it higher or lower, called float adjustment screw

My fiancee and I had the same issue as the OP. Instead of buying a new float for around $16, we bought the toilet below (American Standard Renaissance) at Home Depot for $99 - $60 municipal rebate (6L low-flow). Installation took perhaps 20 minutes. So, for an additional $23 we got a new toilet that included all the required accessories (seat, bolts, wax seal) and as an added bonus it is elongated rather than round. What's the big deal about that? If you're a guy, you'll know!
