Oh wow haha. Low rates are low.

When I was vacationing there, it was 1 CAD to 111 JPY.

Sorry to OP tho, I feel your pain...

If I were you, I will at least xchange half of the money now...and see how the rate goes. Hopefully OPEC will cut production soon boosting oil price up, which should give the canadian dollor some lift.

Oh god... thats terrible..

As the above poster said.. you could just do a bit.. and maybe bet on the market getting better.....

Though thats a risk you'll have to be willing to fathom

To add more pain, the buy and sell rates are differed by probably 6% or more for Yen (unlike US dollar is normally around 2%). Banks are going to pocket the huge profit.

I sent a million yen back from Japan in mid-August at around 105. I feel like I lost myself around $2,000. :(

Nobody expected both oil and the North American economy in general to tank this badly, though...

in my opinion the place to get the best rate for Japanese Yen is in the airport. (Narita)
