1) 407 -> 403 -> QEW
2) 404 -> 401 -> 403 -> QEW
3) 404 -> DVP -> Gardiner -> QEW
I think #1 will be the fastest.

I would take the 407 all the way to the QEW, that way you can bypass Oakville all together. That place sucks for drivign through.
you can check google maps (http://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=Markham,+ON&geocode=&dirflg=&daddr=niagara+falls+ontario&f=d&sll=43.881261,-79.261584&sspn=0.31378,0.727844&ie=UTF8&ll=43.325178,-79.584274&spn=0.316692,0.727844&z=11)

yeah it does,
can I hit the 407 say around 530-6 pm will it be okay or is the traffic bad on the 407 these days? (ive seen it pretty packed sometimes)
i dont wanna go on 404 to dvp route, even at 7pm the there is high volume but not necessarily stop n go traffic.

Personally I've found as long as there isn't any issues on the other major hiways the 407 is fairly fast, however I've only driven it a dozen times or so. It gets expensive.
you can go to their website and select where you will get on and off and it will tell you how much it will cost for the trip.

Definitely a car. The buses are ok too, but will take you longer. Bicycles are faster than walking or jogging. I say, take the car as it will be the faster way to get to your destination. I hope this helps mate.

407 all the way to Hamilton. You'll get on the QEW right before the skyway bridge. This is by far the quickest route.

Where are you headed in Niagara? It's a big place afterall! ;) If you're headed into St. Catharines, Welland or Niagara Falls think seriously about catching the 406 to avoid all the contruction on the QEW...
