I walked around and NO ONE seems to want to help me. after 15 minutes of waiting with my arms on the counter where i want to buy my wallet. I ask for help and they tell me they'll be right with me. then they leave the store and im lk WTF. just because im a 19 year old does that mean im not a worthy customer ? thx holt u just lost my business.

I actually had pretty good service at yorkdale holts and I'm 17 lol. One worker was very helpful from handing me pairs of jeans to try on and stuff. I wasn't wearing anything good that day either.

However, I noticed in the LV section, they don't really help you that much. I only got help there once and that was for belts.

Btw, I find Harry Rosen to have even worse service.

Not really a matter of age.. more of disposition and dress.

And no, one balling looking item does not a baller make :P

Eh?..

Really?

Harry Rosen's salespeople are one of the best in Toronto, IMO.. they really jump over hurdles to assist you.

I like Holt better. I've had mixed experiences with Harry Rosen.

EDIT: The last three times I've been, they've actually been pretty good. but when I was younger, I didn't like them.

-1 , I've literally been kicked out of Harry Rosen (again LITERALLY) just because my budget for a coat was appx $300 and I was ball parking, I just wanted to see what they had in the store but as soon as the sales store heard that he told me to get out and this was not the place for me. He literally put his hand on my back and pointed me to the door and then followed me out.

Haven't gone back since

A friend is a buyer for Holts and whenever I mention these types of complaints, she insists that the sales staff is instructed NOT to treat anyone badly!

Funny how they seem to get away with it time and time again.

You think people are told to act rude in the workplace? Whenever I work, the satisfaction of the customer is always my top priority, and I do everything in my power to meet the customer's needs. If I ran a business and my employees slacked off or didn't help people because they didn't feel like it, they'd be fired on the spot.

I have gotten nothing but terrible service at large high end clothing stores in both Canada and the US.

Had the same experiance at Yorkdale - couldn't get a SA's attention until after his long conversation with a coworker.

High end places in general (restaurants and stores) look down and condescend to their customers. Either get used to it, or don't shop there. Also, the fact that you're 19 has a lot to do with it.

I say... whoever doesnt get good service @ a high end store should post a picture! Then the rest of us can see why...

I once walked into Chanel, and they jumped all over me to offer help. Pretty awesome considering im broke.

I have to admit that I'm not into the high end expensive clothing line but I dress the very casual (hoods, jeans, t-shirt, runners) so I can't really comment but the few times I've walked into stores that are geared towards the more expensive side, no one has approached me asking me if I needed help. I couldn't care less either since I'm just browsing. On the contrary, I never have any problems when shopping anywhere else.

They probably weren't told to act rude but they know they could get away with whatever attitude they want. A friend of mine once worked at MAC at Yorkdale for the holiday and told me the clientale there is the worst she ever seen. I think that has to do with it too. Besides, Holt Renfrew monopolized the market of many brands that they carry. Regardless what kind of service they provide, they will always have customers.

My point was that they are specifically told NOT to conform to the 'rumours' about staff at Holts. Management will not tolerate it. So if indeed someone is treated badly, they should be reported.

I only shop at Bloor St Holts, and know most staff well. But if they ever treated me or someone else rudely in my presence, I would ask for a manager!

Or, we could satisfy both requests, and have everyone who's posted so far put up a pic XD

My sisters was there to buy some LV bags and the lady didn't want to help them:|, I guess LV empoyee doesn't work on comission (disscussed on Fashion & Apparel)

I get better service from the Coach and Hugo Boss OUTLET Stores in Niagara NY than I do at a full price Holt Renfrew in Toronto getting the same products. Go Figure!
Pay less and get more service

I've never had a problem with Holts. They've always been very nice and are very eager to offer me their business card.
