you must be charged $250CND if you change the date to with your flight, and also if you want to swtich the ticket with other ppls, they will charge on you with the fee that change name on ticket, i think doing that way is even more expansive. (since have to pay on both person's ticket) I remeber i was charged $50 on last flight ticket, becuase i put my last name as first name. >_<

The airline that you are flying on may also charge you the difference if the original fare class that you booked is not available. They may also be charging you the difference for the open fare class that is available.

If you need to change, find out specifically what the charges are for. Is the $250 only a change fee or is part of it a change fee and part of it a change in fare class? If the change fee is only $50 for example then maybe you can try a different date and pay only the change fee.

Which airline is it and do you know which fare class you are booked on?

I recently had a similar situation and the change fee was only $100 but the fare I booked which was a cheap sale fare was sold out so they wanted another $230 for the difference to the next available fare class. I had to pay since I really needed to change the date.

I have never heard of changing dates with ppl so I don't really know what you mean, are these ppl that you know, or you would just try to find them on your own?

sadly you have to pay that. it's a rip but can't really do much about it.

i think it depends on the airline. i changed my flights to a later departure with cathay in hong kong and i wasn't charged, but this was done at the airport

Why is it a rip? It is a service and the customer now asks the service to be changed, why should they do it for free?

It depends what kind of fare you are on. Discount fares will cost you extra to make changes, that is part of the package, terms and conditions that you bought your ticket under. There is sometimes leeway but it is really up to individual you are dealing with, sometimes they will accommodate, even if you have a fixed ticket, and sometimes they will not.

it's a rip because it is 250cad. that's probably 1/5 the cost of the ticket. It would make sense if it's about 100 cad. Seriously, it's not that hard to change the date.

They would be happy to change the date for you, just buy the full unrestricted fare next time. Then, the change fee would be 0% of the cost of your ticket!
