Hello all,
Seems as though the company that used to do our snow removal is no longer in business I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I do snow plowing and seem to have a few of my old customers calling me this year. Seems like after a few years of slow winters, last year nearly, or did bust the lowballers wallets, and they have had enough. Sorry do not work the your area. Look for some trucks in the area that are green and have Nick's landscaping on the door.

Hi all:
I am looking for snow removal service too. I am in Markham (Major MacKenzie & 9th Line) area.
What is a 'typical' cost for these services anyway? I am thinking seasonal contract - something like late Nov to early April or whatever the typical contract periods are.
Do these services remove snow right away (for residential lots)? I am guessing salting is still my duty, right?

Depends on the deal that you make with your service person. Most people want the service if there is 2" or more of snow and that is about the average across the board. There are some that want 1" and they pay big for that. How can anyone predict the number of 1" snowfalls will happen in four months? It is impossable. 1" usually means that it will be salted only and not plowed. So having said that if you want salting it will be on a per time basis.
I have clients that are on a per time basis because, they do not want to pay for what they do not get, and some on a seasonal contract, because they want to know what the cost is so they can budget for it as opposed to a big surprise one month. I like it that way. I ensure that I have enough on a per time to cover the expence of clearing the snow each snowfall. I always leave it up to the client to choose which plan they want.
Personally I do not salt.
