Does anyone know if they actually call all references?

What kind of questions do they ask?

What if my refrence is not at home?

Will this delay the process?

they HARDLY ever call the reference. i known so much ppl who have done the passport in past few months, with me being the reference for them and they have never received a call.

also i did my passport 4 weeks ago, and my reference never got a call.

I believe they always try to check the references when a RUSH passport is required. I was a reference for a friend who needed a rush passport (within 48 hrs?), and was called. I wasn't called for another friend who applied for a passport with the regular wait time.

I had to confirm where he lives, how long I knew him, and what his profession is. I wasn't home when they first called so they left a message and had to hear back from me before they could finalize his application.

I was also a reference for someone that required a passport on an urgent basis and I was also called. This was several years ago and I don't remember all the questions they asked but all the ones you mentioned as well as a physical description. Can't remember if there were other questions.
