You have to take a police course and pass both written and physical exam before you can become a police.

high school classes and marks have nothing to do with becoming a police officer

I suggest putting in as many volunteer hours as possible... preferably in positions where you deal with other people. A day camp would be a good example. Homeless shelter is a good one too.

You don't even need a grade 12 education to be a police officer, you can simply get your GED like my brother had done before he realized this wasn't a career for him and he wanted to finish college instead of resorting to the easy way out.
Education is not a requirement aside from completion of grade 12 whatsoever in order to become a police officer, that is the great thing about this career is that education is not a requirement ;)
Police foundation course helps but again I don't believe this is a technical requirement though it may give you the 'edge' depending on the prospective job opportunities where you are.

To be on the safe side, take at least "C", "M," or "U" courses in your last two years of high school because you never know where you'll end up. If your schools offers the Grade 11 sociology course (M course) - it will be helpful because the course focus' on social groups and interactions. Also not everyone makes it to become a police officer. You should always have a back-up plan.
I'd would also take co-op in either Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 and try to get a placement with the Toronto police, RCMP or OPP, or related field. You'll be able to shadow police and see their work to see if it's really for you.
If you want to go the O.P.P. route, they give preference to people with a post-secondary education, preferably at least a B.A.

*next time you need info on a college program, just go to the college website. Good luck!

As noted before, high school courses are relatively meaningless as long as grades are there. Community work, volunteering is a key focus. Post secondary education is also becoming a must in many cases and is only go to become mandatory as Police Services are looking at taking the most highly educated and motivated individuals that apply.

I am sure even if a post secondary degree is not required for police services, you will have a better chance of landing the job if you had one.
