Hey...just wondering if anyone has worked or know someone that may have worked night crew at Loblaws.....in terms of working conditions, pay rate etc.....thought it may be a good job for my nephew.
Anything and everything would be much appreciated.

Many years ago I worked night shift @ Dominions (10pm-6am)
The main duties were to re-stock the shelves.
Lets just say.......
I was not accustomed to the nocturnal way of life,
and damn was it a rude "awakening" (lol no pun intended)
10pm-1am it was fine for the most part..
but once you reach 2:30am-3am or so, your body starts to feel the effects,
come 4am and you start to lose attention to details.
At the end of the shift, you are just down right exhausted from all the heavy lifting, constant standing, shelving, hearing your supervisor b*tch at you, etc etc.
When it comes down to it though, its more of a mind over body thing for night shifts; you gotta tell yourself to keep going whenever you feel like you can't take any more.
Its a tough challenge, especially when there is a lot of physical labour involved.
**One word of advice*
Coffee/Tea and such might help you in the short term but, through personal night shift experience it didn't help in the long term. You would have to constantly drink coffee or tea throughout the night and morning if you depend on that stuff. And you know what happens when you overdue on the coffee/tea right........ your tummy starts to feel the effect and uses pain as a signal to tell you to drink less of it.

Night shifts at Loblaws isn't so bad. 1130-8 I believe. The pay is about $1.00 than regular wage/hour. I think you only do a few skids per night.
