Hi,
Just wondering if any of you have any experiences at Deloitte in the GTA at the IT departments for Entry level positions (e.g. salary, environment, people, etc).
My friend got an interview position for an Analyst for Financial Advisory - Forensic and Dispute.
So i'm just asking for him. Also, if anyone has experience with I.T interviews at deloitte, could you please let me know about the questions?
Thanks a lot in advance

I'd also be interested in this, looking to jump into consulting in the near future.

The analyst position for FAS (Financial Advisory Services) is not entirely IT. The IT Department is where you go to get your laptop. FAS and the ERS group (Enterprise Risk Services/IT Audit - where I work) deal in a lot of areas that use IT, but it's not specifically a technical position. In fact, most of the FAS F&D area is not specifically IT-related.
Here's the link to these areas for more information:
Financial Advisory - Forensic & Dispute

Enterprise Risk - Control Assurance

Enterprise Risk - Security & Privacy

In order to help see what he can expect, I'd need to know his background so I can see where his experience and interests lie. Make sure he looks through the first posting above and just comes prepared to talk about what he might know and what he figures he can learn. It's not difficult to figure the work out if you can get your foot in the door. Tell him good luck in the interview. I'm sure he'll do fine.

He said your post is VERY helpful, thank you!!!
Btw hes in Computer Science, but has worked at other financial institutions in the IT department.
Do you have any idea what type of technical questions will the interviewer ask? Any good way to prepare?
Also, would you happen to know the typical starting salary for an analyst of his type at Deloitte?
Thanks a lot

Glad the posting helped. Unfortunately I'm not sure of the starting salary for FAS. I know that for a new hire in my group (Control Assurance) it's approximately 45k in the GTA (which is fairly standard across Canada, give or take). I can't imagine that in FAS it would be much different.
As far as what technical questions, again I'm not sure. I'd imagine that they won't be too technical. Mostly they want to know that the person is well versed in technology in general, that they are able to adapt to new technologies, and that they are able to learn about how they work in business. Pretty much everything else they will be able to teach you as you go.
Wish I could be more help.
Cheers.
