Hello I recemtly moved to California. I got a job at a major Telecommunications company as a Data Center tech. I started 2 months ago and now since the company stocks went down they layedoff our senior tech.

I have a Telecommunications Technology Diploma, what can I do to prepare if I get layedoff?

I have 3yrs cable pulling experience, 1yr Nortel PBX programming, and thats about it. Im pretty new to the Data Center so I know a little about line testing...

Any advice?

Thanks

Get your resume in order and start checking what other jobs are out there. It never hurts to see what your options are.

You never know if you will actually be laid off. By laying off your senior tech, it seems like they are trying to get rid of high salaries, and seeing as your a new employee, your probably one of the lower paid people, which could be an asset to you. They may get rid of you because you are least experienced, though, so who knows.

Either way, fireing one person doesn't mean they will be doing massive layoffs. If they do though, it's no fun working in an environment where they are downsizing, because pressures and workload will keep going up, and your salary or bonus will not. In that case, start looking for new work ASAP, there is no point waiting around for severence because after only 2 months it wont be much.
