could you comment on the significance of this post? I'm just curious as to why this job posting was deserving of a thread, when there are positions offered all the time... :D

you're looking at one right now, i didnt really know about this till now. So only newly grads can take this? I graduated last year.
Is it just me, or is that opening page very hard to read? i was reading it and went "so whats the name of this position anyway?" lol

I saw that posted a while ago. And yes, the prefer new graduates for their recruitment program.
I find all the federal government job postings have a lot of detail. It would be nice if they got straight to the point. But of course, they want the best of the best.

that's a position in IT field for Stats Canada. By the way, what program you graduated from? (i am assuming not IT related?)

As per my university career services back in 2007, you can call your self New grad up 18months from your graduation. I applied but i got an Offer with RIM so i am moving out of Ottawa. I was with Nortel as New Grad.

I think I was misunderstood...... all i wanted to know was if there was anything in particular that was an "attention grabber" for this position? If not, why won't someone post job ads for EVERY government position? I didn't mean no harm at all, I was only curious..
I really didn't mean to offend anyone, and I apologize if I did, that wasn't my intention..
You can find plenty here: jobs.gc.ca for more.

CS-01 is a pretty low designation.
They offered me a CS-02 job 6 months after grad.
I would try to angle for that instead.

hey man, don't worry about it. I didn't mean to sound rude either and just presented my answer to your question :)
p.s. thanx for the website you gave. Also, to back you up a bit here, I think there was someone's thread on the government jobs, so everyone can look there for more postings. However, I should say that it never hurts to update us on the openings out there and it's always up to moderators to delete or leave the thread here.
Cheers

well i knew i was asking for trouble when i asked the question, but i couldn't help myself lol.
Anyway, the sad thing about government opportunities is that there are ALWAYS job openings, but a large portion of them are not seen by the public (ie they look within before releasing the position to the public, if at all). So it's VERY advantageous to have "connections" working in the government.
