2009 Pontiac Vibe FWD
Base $14772
Freight $1160
1SC $4300
5spd auto $1278
A/C tax $100
Marketing $40
Total $21650
Including 10% tax, grand total will be $23815.00.
I been to dealer already, they want about $26800 with zero percent financing. Tax/freight included
How much should I counter offer? do you think $25500 is a good price? Tax/freight included
I also get $800 new grad discount, that will come to like $24700 if $25500 goes through... Am I dreaming here?

Bought a Civic 3.5 years ago, paid $500 above invoice price. I think that is fair. Also your grad rebate should be on top, that come from the manufacture and not the dealer so it is outside of your negotiations, although they will make you think other wise.
If they won't take $500 (or very close) above cost call other dealers, somebody will.

How do you ask for such huge discount? should I reference to the invoice price that I obtain?

The MSRP given is usually a 10% markup. Depending on your interaction with your dealer, you can give them a 3% to 5% markup before taxes.

So, there was no additional incentives. What did people pay for their Vibes and under what plan?
I'll looking at a Vibe w/manual transmission, 1.8L, and sunroof. Retails for $21,420, wholesale is $19,654. We're considering either paying cash if we can get near the $2500 discount offered for 72 months financing, or 60 months at zero percent. So I be looking at a greater or less discount with financing?

~~~~ Rules of negotiation never talk about financing/incentives until the end~~~
His "Best price" (1) 24900.....OTD
I said 22300 OTD and ask him to talk to the boss
He is not trying and state " I am not making a fool out of myself " and he is not talking to the boss
I said 22750 OTD and he said : i AM NOT MAKING ANY MONEY BLAH BLAH..
I said 23200 OTD ( with CC 2.5% mark up) He said.. this is not working cannot cover the dealership overhead cost..
I said 23500 OTD FIRM (with CC 3.75% mark up) He finally move his butt and talk to the Manager.
Talk to manager came back FINAL OFFER 24100 FRIM..........
deals end here..I walked out.. My Target is 23650 (5% mark up) not a penny more!
The jackass's final
24100 OTD, with 0% Financing he still make 513 dollars
and the dealer gross is 1529
or he make 302 dollars and dealer gross is 1029 with I don't join the 0 % deal
REMEMBER NEVER NEVER NEVER TALK ABOUT ANY DISCOUNTS(FINANCE REBATE ETC ETC..) BEFORE GETTING THE OTD CASH PRICE.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4% mark up is $24950 OTD cash price before any incentive.. This is your target.
I am dealing with Wheaton Pontiac at Saskatoon.. go up and looking my result
It has a lot do with the right salesperson, some are just a-holes and want the most profit, while others will work a bargain for you cause they are more interested in how many cars they move. When a salesperson tells me he is going to get laughed at for my offer, I tell him, that is nice, now go in and tell him my offer!!!! I know inside the bosses office, they wait for 5mintues doing nothing and then he comes back and tells you some stupid number, say firm with your original number until they keep going down (assuming your offer is reasonable in your case it was!). They expect you to break ;)
Even makes sense to go back and deal with another salesperson, you will be surprised that one sales guy will get you a better deal than another salesperson in the same dealership.
I am so close to finalizing a deal with my local Pontiac dealer, here are the cost...
2009 Vibe FWD
1SC - 17in wheels, 2.4L engine, A/C, PW, PL, Cruise, Fog light, folded front seat, cargo organizer
5spd Auto
Spoiler
Block heater
Including everything, they want $26000 with 0% financing.
I will be qualify for the $800 new grad discount
$500 credit is also given by GM, but since I am special ordering this car, this credit is on hold.... I will get the deal only if at time of arrival, the deal is still there... This kind of suck...
So grand total is $25200 and if the $500 credit applies, than is $24700...
What do you guy's think???
For some reason, the salesman told me they can hold the 0% financing but not the $500 additional credit offer by GM?? Is this true?
Do you guys think I am getting a deal???
Hey,
I am looking at getting into an 09 Vibe, the debate is whether to go for the GT or stick with the 1SC, add the spoiler, sunroof and automatic transmission. MSRP for the 1SC is at least 2500 cheaper. The dealer I am looking at going to isnt budging on price, I am suprised to see what some people are getting. I just got off the phone and was told they would give me 3K cash back instead of going 0% for 60 months...I am still wrapping my head around if it is a better deal. I know how the cash back incentives work, I guess it is something that could bite me in the a$$ is interest rates happen to go up.
Opinions on the 1SC vs the GT??? The only thing I can tell is the body side skirts and the GT badging.
The GT also comes with:
- a different front bumper and foglights
- upgraded stereo system
- fancier looking seats
- independent rear suspension (vs. torsion beam on the 1SC)
