Probably. I've been reading around a lot of the US consumer sites, and the common sentiment says retailers in the US are scared to death that Black Friday won't put them in the black this year. Stores that are doing early Christmas sales are doing high volume, according to the Chicago tribune, so I'd expect to see the sales flying fast and furious this year. I'm heading down in a week or two to Grove City's outlet mall, will let everyone know what the pre-sale buzz is for them, unless anyone goes earlier and feels like sharing.

Its a bit too early to tell... just wait for all the retailers to release their fliers and you'll know. I generally only go down if i see a sale i like (got to skip class on Friday to go).

Every prediction I've read points to retailers pulling out all the stops this year trying to get people to spend. Both staples like clothes and luxury type items like tv's are expected to be the focus of the door crashers but it's a wait and see situation. I also expect retailers to be more cooperative with the Black Friday sites about leaked flyers as they have to know they are going to have to really competitive for buyers dollars this year...
