I've always heard my friends talk about how they make such crazy money working at car dealerships, but have been hesitant to try it out because of fear of working in a pure commission environment.
My one friend got in at a dealership near my house and for shits I went to go meet the manager, I have a strong background in sales (retail banking), but I explained to him that i didn't want the stress of being full commission as I'm also a student and i need a guaranteed income for bills/tuition etc.
He ended up offering me a base salary of $3500 a month (more than I make as a FA...) and then commission ON TOP of it (%30 on gross profit like all the other guys make)
This seems a little too good to be true to me, although its been confirmed a couple of other co-workers.
Can anyone with some experience in this field tell me if this is common practice? Am i missing something here?
