$40 rebate on top of the $50 off? Where is the rebate?

holy crap that thing looks cool.

Now i regret spending my OSAP money on a laptop... it's not half as cool as this ;)

then again, i doubt that gps unit will allow me to post dumb comments on RFD during lectures like I am now.....

I tried to get one of these with the 40% off sears coupon, got denied. $50 off though, a coupon for $20...plus a $40 rebate would be sweet. I still don't see the rebate for $40 though, probably staring right at it.

OP, where is the $40 rebate???

I think the OP meant a $50 rebate... isn't there a $30 coupon code for Sears?

edit: $30 code is 941615934 but only for $250+ purchases.

Apparently for the new Knight Rider, Val Kilmer is the voice of Kitt.. wonder if this one is Val's voice, or the old Kitt with "the Hoff".. :P

Anyways, thanks OP.

The description on the Sears website says "Featuring the original voice of K.I.T.T." so I assume it is the old KITT voice from the 80's.

Its the old dude's voice. I checked it out at the Source the other day. Pretty cool!

It's the original voice. Not Kilmer. Thank god!

Too bad it's such a basic GPS unit jazzed up with the Knight Rider stuff. No, BlueTooth,no FM transmitter, no Text2Speech (for obvious reasons), average battery life. Not like it's cheap either.

I like the gimmic, but I don't think I'm gonna drop the cash for it.

So does it mean it can do text to speech, just not with KITT's voice?

Driving with the Knight Rider was a pleasure, although we wish that it pronounced street names using Daniels’ voice. The package comes with MioMore software which runs on Windows XP and Vista computers and can install a text-to-speech voice, but you have to remove one of the preloaded languages: French, Spanish, or—heaven forbid—K.I.T.T.

Staples has it for $249... http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=74%2C4142,3693&webid=756948&affixedcode=WW

Now where is that $50 rebate??

Yeppers! There's no way that they could do Text2Speech with his voice. He'd be in the studio for years, and still be missing a ton of streets.

I just bought one this weekend. I think it's cool that it has Daniel williams but pointless using him as agps. You have to constantly look over at the screen as he doesn't say the street names. You have to install the text to voice files off the cd.

the knight rider whooshing only comes on at boot. You cant program any names. even with the text to voice. I find it hard to believe that with al the computer software they couldnt generate a voice profile and have the unit try and figure out what the word is just like microsofts old "talk it" program.

ANyhow, only three days of having this and it's crashed, stuck in a boot loop. keeps saying wheredo you want to go today over and over. going back to staples. Thought about the amcor run by wince which is potentially "hackable" or just try another knight rider unit. I'll see if staples will honor sears proce of 239.00. anyone know any cheaper prices anywhere else?

cheers

I think the OP meant $50 off, not a $50 rebate on top of the instant savings. I guess if you went yesterday or Saturday you could have gotten the $10 Superbucks coupon, but it's too late for that now.

I got the discount form sears at staples. Just print out the webprice from sears and staples will give it to you for 239.99.

One thing I like is that some of the restaurant logos and gas bars show up such as shell, mcdonalds, wendy's. Some of the restaurants are a little off location. That's allright. Mine's working fine now, pretty much just a novelty. I use the text to speech voice for detail directions, kitt is just for fun.

I wish Kitt would say more though or make side comments. too bad.
