Since last few days I have noticed this. Do not know why?

n morning when I start my car, it needs little up of boost through the iginition to start. It also happens if the car is parked for few hours.

Otherwise, if I drive the car to destination and leave in an hour, the car starts immediately.

I do not know why it is happening? It has started to happen since last couple of weeks.

Any advice?

My guess is your battery or starter is about to give out. You may be good for now but once it gets cooler you're going to get stranded

needs more choke, assuming it's an older vehicle with one.

Probably cause the oil is still warm it flows better than when its cold.

The problem is either morning or sometime if it is parked for over 8 hours or so.

It is 2001 Honda Accord. I do not how long exactly batteries last. I bought it is used and an driving for last three years. I am not sure whether these are original batteries or earlier owner got it changed.

I think most battery warranties run to six years, which gives an idea of how long they would last for. I'd bet you're still on the original ones, so it's time to get a new one.

Why are you giving out bogus advice? Wanting to increase your post count some more? That's all we've been seeing from you these days.

To add to the mostly good advice already seen here, perhaps get your alternator tested. It might not be putting out as much power as it should.

Who can test the batteries or alternator? I go to Midas in Mississauga. Would they be able to do that or do I have to take some where else?

It could be any of the following:

1. Battery
2. Bad Ground wires (although you would have issues on every start if this was the case)
3. Distributor cap/rotor may need replacing
4. spark plugs may need replacing

pick and choose, if you haven't done a tune up in a while then i'd suggest that first.

I get car serviced from Midas every three to four months. Oil change plus inspection. I believe by tune up means car to be serviced throughly or something else. (Individuals use different words to say same thing.)

If you cannot start your car without a boost in the mornings or if it has been sitting for a while, then your battery has lost it's charge.
If you can start it after just an hour or so then the battery has retained enough charge from the charging system (alternator). Your alternator is working.
A distributor cap and spark plugs are definitely not your problem. A bad ground could be though because you are constantly discharging your battery. Ypou could also have something on (trunk light etc) discharging your battery.
Find an automotive electric shop or ask the shop you like if they have the machine to check your electrical system and charging system (not just a multimeter). I hate to promote Canadian Tire, but often bigger shops like CT or dealers are the only ones that can afford the expensive test equipment. I think CT charges something like $69 for the test.
Just going out and buying and installing a new battery without verifying your electrical systems state could only lead to the new battery discharging as well.
Oh, and cold oil preventing you from starting???? How do those Prairie people ever survive the winter (and no, they don't all have block heaters and battery warmers). Not a likely scenario.

Thanks guys the info was really good.

Here is my situation now:

I got my car serviced today from Midas and they checked the battery as well. The report says Rating 440 CCA Results 12.65U 207 CCA. Battery replacement is highly recommended.

Midas is selling me Interstate Battery for $126 plus $96 labour for the replacement. That comes to $251They said they will clean the terminals and recheck the battery wiring etc. etc. I found that to be very high.

At Costco I saw Kirkland Battery for $89 with three years replacement. CAA sells battery for $120 or so.

From where and what would be the good option to buy the battery and get it installed. I know people do it by themselve which I do not want try as I do not want to play anything with electrical stuff in the car.

i just replaced my battery from one from walmart. it costs $85 plus taxes and a refundable $10 deposit. i tried looking for a group 51 battery at costco and couldn't find one. they were sold out in 3 costco's and got sick and tired of looking for one, so i just bought one at walmart.

for $96, i'll change your battery for you...
