Hello,

I have purchased a laptop w/ backpack and mouse at costco.
Now, I was wondering if it would be plausible to return the whole set after a year, under the argument that I am not satisfied with the backpack.

Would they accept the return in that case?

discuss.

i thought the policy changed to 3 months on electronics, to prevent things like this.

Were you able to read the signs at Costco explaining the policy with regards to computers. They are very hard to miss. You might be able to return the backpack but not the laptop.
Costco changed the policy to prevent abuse like this.

Doubt that they will accept the return because what you are proposing is exactly what they are trying to avoid. Another reason they probably wont take it back is because although their return policy for electronics is 90 days, the warranty is 1 year from the manufacturer. So after 90 days they could tell you to deal with the manufacturer of the computer or the bag manufacturer instead.

However, YMMV!

yes, I am aware of the 90-day policy on computers, TVs, projectors, etc.

That's why I'm thinking if this would work as a loophole.

Have fun arguing that a laptop is not a computer or it was a freebee to go with the expensive backpack.

They will not accept the laptop back as part of the return regardless of how unhappy you are with the backpack. If you paid for the backpack, you can get refunded on the backpack. If you got the backpack free (most likely), then if you are not happy with it, throw it away because you didn't pay for it = what is there to refund?

Personally, i find it unreasonable for anyone to even consider returning something that works fine after say 3 months. Honestly if you didn't want it, don't buy it. Trying it for 3 months (or even 1 month) gives you a good idea rather or not you like it. Being not satisfy after a year is BS (if you are unsatisfied, why even keep it that long?)... i wonder when Costco will just change the policy to a period of time (instead of lifetime for some items). Its bound to happen sooner or later with all the abuse going on. The other day when i was leaving Costco, i saw someone trying to return a computer chair that was all cut up.:| Last year i remember seeing people returning battery. Also saw people i think trying to return meat products (either that or they just paid for it and returning other stuff).

It is people like you (OP) that make the store add 5-10% to the cost of everything we buy.

Really, now what reason would constitute giving a person a year to figure out if they liked the backpack or not? If it's not defective you are just looking to scam.

Everyone - just ignore this clown... This doesn't deserve a response. I've wasted my time writing this one on behalf of everyone.
