I did a search and did not find anything. i apologize if this is a repost.
I parked at a meter while volunteering at the hospital downtown. I got back to my car, just under 4 minutes after the meter expired, and i already had a ticket (i know the exact time because i set my phone timer to let me know when my meter expires and my timer counts up after the alarm goes off).
i went to the courthouse to dispute it and was told that each registered license plate has 1 "courtesy cancellation" for a parking meter infraction. just call the number on the back of the ticket and ask for a courtesy cancellation and that will void the ticket for you. Be prepared to wait a little while on the phone though.
you get one cancellation for the lifetime of the license plate and it only works for parking meter infractions (so you cnat use this to get out of speeding tickets and things).
I feel that this information is tremendously useful and is obviously not outwardly advertised by the city of Vancouver who gouge us for parking fees as it is.
i think this is the correct forum, as i dont think this is technically a freebie... but i do want as many people to benefit from this as possible....
