I'll be in HK for a few days next week, and then Japan. I'm looking for some smaller sizes for a guy... dress pants, dress shirts and an overcoat. Maybe shoes. I'm usually middle of the road in terms of price.
Last time I was in hk I didn't have much of a chance to look around, but from what I saw the sizes didn't seem much smaller. Know of any places I should check out? I'll only be there for 3 days... is that enough time to get custom pants/shirts made? Would that be much cheaper then here?
I'm going to be in Tokyo for longer. Is that a better option?

Tokyo clothing is really expensive, HK is much much better.

theres Uniqlo in both HK and Japan and they're not difficult to find at all, prices are similar in both places that you can check out, clothing is really cheap in terms of pricing, its kinda like H&M of Japan imo. And the ones in HK does free alterations, mainly shortening your pants I believe (its fast too, usually finished the same day). In HK you can also checkout izzue.

G2000 for HK
In Tokyo, I noticed that although LOTS of people wear suits and stuff, the quality of clothing was meh. Poor cutting and fabric

Uniqlo can be found in the US as well... it's pretty popular but the quality is avg.

You can try Bossini for casual clothings, or Giordano for somewhat more formal. Both are cheap clothings for decent quality.

My co-worker who goes to Japan often around Jan/Feb tells me there are huge sales on highend clothing in Japan around that time. It's too bad your not going then.

Japan - Muji, Uniqlo, Comme Ca du mode,... In the Shibuya and Shinjuku shopping areas, there are tons of shops to check out, I remember seeing stores catering just to young business men
I believe H&M has opened 2 stores in Tokyo too.
Hong Kong - G2000, G2 black label, Bossini, and all the brand names you can buy in canada (sizes may not be smaller if they are selling american sizes)
I think I saw Zara in IFC, and I find Zara sizes fit small in Canada.
Have fun!

Muji and uniqlo are solid (and inexpensive brands) but more casual then dress; be ready to pay if you shop in well known shops in shibuya or shinjuku, even no name stuff can cost a lot.
G2000 is around "middle ground" (sometimes cheaper) for suits and shirts and pants and should be your best bet, the sizing is perfect for the average asian.
no comment for dress shoes..... as i get them everywhere i go.
