I wanted to run a situation i'm having with Rogers with you guys and get your feedback. I switched to Rogers 2 years ago on the switch from satellite promotion where I received a free PVR for 2 years. The promotion ended this September and I gave Rogers a call because I said I wanted to cancel my service with them. I gave the reason that Look TV (www.look.ca) can offer me practically everything they are giving me for a fraction of the cost. They transferred my call to customer relations and I told them that I could receive what they would offer me in the VIP package and get the US Superstations for $55/month from Look whereas Rogers would make me get the VIP package plus make me subscribe to TMN in order to get the US Superstations and this would run me close to $115/month if I choose to keep the PVR.

After talking with the representative I negotiated a deal with the representative where I would receive the VIP package, subscribe to MPIX instead of TMN and receive the US Superstations for $48 plus taxes and in addition I would give in PVR and receive a standard terminal free for a year.

I got my bill and they never made these changes but decided to get rid of the US superstations while charging me $73. I called Rogers and the rep said he doesn't see anything there and does not know how they would have given me that price quote and told me to go to the Rogers Video store in order to trade in my PVR and then call back, but if they aren't going to honour the price they originally quoted me I would rather cancel.

What do you think I should do?

You should call back and talk to another Retentions rep, and if this doesn't work - just call and talk another Retentions rep, and if this is not working then you call and tell then that you are canceling your services with Rogers, they will ask why - you tell your story again and let them work a deal with you.

And be polite, don't scream - these people work there for min wage and got screamed on them all day long.

They do NOT make minimum wage....but they do get screamed at all day.

Next time get the rep's name.. If they promised you, just say it like it is.
