Also you only get a California number, outgoing is free but incoming is long distance.

ALSO its pretty ******, has a working to not working ratio of maybe 3:1.

ALSO calling Magic Jack to Magic Jack is a ***** - you get a bad quality phone call.

ALSO there is no return address or return protocol, so once you buy it your pretty much stuck with it unless you charge back and ship it priority back to them.

You get what you pay for.

Thats BS. I have magic jack and I like it. THERE IS NO SPYWARE. I have 3 different spyware/malware scanners and Ive been clean before and after installing MJ.

As for the phone number, there are no Canadian area codes avail yet. But U can choose one from a selection of different states. I chose a NY phone number.

I rate MJ a 7/10. I do not recommend using this as a primary phone.

Magicjack is ok, worth the money. My 1 year expired a few months ago and i signed up for another 4 more years for something like $50 USD.

You are not getting top notch quality, closer to borderline unbearable quality, but F*ck it is dirt cheap.

Generally yes. I built an Intel Atom PC that is on 24/7 for MJ,downloading and filesharing, so it was not an issue for me.

If you are technically inclined you can find the SIP info by memory dumping the Majicjack process and looking through the text with a text editor. I did that and was able to input the settings to my linksys PAP2, but I only used the PAP2 for a few weeks for MJ. MJ likes to do funny stuff to the settings, so I needed to change the settings every few weeks with the linksys PAP2. It was just easier to leave the pc on 24/7.

Alternatively you can get vbuzzer voip service for $50/yr. I also have that, but I never use it. A us number with MJ was just easier for me. I was able to program my linksys PAP2 with the vbuzzer settings and everything was great. Quality is better than MJ, but price is not so good WRT to MJ.

Also there is freephoneline.ca, you get a free incoming number, all calls incoming and outgoing are free. Sounds like a scam, but it is true, you can sign up without a credit card. They support themselves through ads. Quality is super crap, but it is free.

Overall I find MJ is a good compromise between quality and price for those who do not care too much about voice quality.
