My current network consists of 2 Linksys 160n routers running DD-WRT. One is on the second floor in the computer room connected to my modem and desktop. The other is on the main floor in bridge mode connected to my Xbox.
I just got a D-Link DIR-655 because I wanted the gigabit ports and plan on using it as the main router in my computer room.
If I put my extra 160n in bridge mode and brought it to my basement, would it be able to transfer data through the 160n on the main floor (ie. to boost the signal) instead of needing to go directly to the DIR-655 which would be so far away?
Ideally, what I want is to have good wireless access with a notebook anywhere in the house, and also be able to plug in an xbox or PS3 to play games online and stream media from my PC to either of the 160n's.
On a side note, is there any issue using the D-Link DIR-655 with Linksys routers? Would it be better for me to get the Linksys 310n and flash to DD-WRT as well? The D-Link doesn't support DD-WRT but got really good reviews and I originally chose it because I thought the external antennas would give me better range.
Thanks!
