I have a 27 inch Westinghouse from a sale a few years ago now, which has the following video inputs:

2x Component
2x RCA
1x VGA
1x DVI

I also now have a Rogers HD Box, with an HDMI and Component output. The problem now is that both Component inputs on my TV are used. One by my Wii and the other by a DVD player.

If I get an HDMI female to DVI male converter plug, would it work to plug the HD Box into the DVI input and get a signal from the HD Box that is better or equal quality to Component?

IE: Something like this?
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&p_id=2029&seq=1&format=2
Plug the converter into the TV, then plug the HDMI cable from the Rogers box into the converter.

Or would I run into issues with HDCP or some stupid stuff like that?

Update: Actually, now that I think about it, I think my Visiontek 4870 came with a DVI to HDMI Adapter plug. I guess I could just use that. Still, anyone know if there will be any HDCP issues?

HDMI and component give similar quality image. I would however use HDMI for your DVD player if it upconverts, and component for the Rogers box. DVD players can't usually upconvert through component.

While the component you linked works, I don't like using them because they add an extra lenght to the connection that may get knocked loose. I prefer a DVI-HDMI cable from monoprice.

Note that you will need a way to transmit the audio too, either RCA or optical/digital coax.

Thanks, my DVD player doesn't have HDMI out.. it's just a Combo DVD/VCR model bought some 6 years ago. I have the RCA cables and will use those. Glad to hear it will work atleast.

You shouldn't run into any HDCP issues as far as I know. They aren't stopping any broadcasts of HDTV at this time, and from what I heard they won't be either.
