Why won't Capital One allow me to switch Cards? I have a 6.99% card and want to switch to their prime+0.9% and lock it in for 3 years. They insist that is not allowed and I will have to cancel my account and apply in 65 days. Do they really want to risk loosing a customer? And their website clearly states that you can not apply for a new card if you already have a card with them.

Anyone have a work around?

...tried that too, it was a no go! They seem to be very strict about multiple accounts.

I guess they want to keep me at 6.99% rather than giving me 5.65%. But they are not making any money from me with 6.99%

Tried it as well and got the same answer....Yes they really DONT care about their customers. I ended up cancelling that card just to keep from going insane. They are by far the WORST company to deal with.

I wonder what is causing them to act this way. Perhaps the US arm of Capital One has too many bad accounts.

Seriously I suggest if you want a mastercard go with the MBNA line where they are much more flexible...I have read here they even allow you to merge different card limits together. I have one MBNA with he 0% promotion and will be getting another one once this offer is over.

The few months I had the CapitalOne card, it was just a disaster. Each time I would call for the smallest thing like I STILL haven't received my card (but was charged the annual fee anyways which shows I'm late making a payment) the calls would last an hour before it got resolved. Or the time when they found it suspicious as to why my credit card did not have the security code at the back. and the list can go on and on.
