So I have a CC with TD, RBC and MBNA (11.9%, 11.55% and 1.99% till Nov) currently all pretty close to maxed....

Im pretty sure at this point that they would reject me as I have a 644 credit rating. My payment history is perfect, but my debt situation is pretty abysmal. Since I do not wanna lose my history on the accounts, if i promise them to lower the limits on my other cards (ill cut them up) would they let me move the money to the 0% card (basically consolidate to them)?

Im not sure how they will know if im able to make good on the promise to lower the limits...

I called the MBNA # used to get a credit card, and the lady couldn't even comprehend what I was trying to ask...

Any opinions on this? Any other advice..

Thanks

I think the best you can do is apply for that card. The phone agents don't give a damn, it's not their job. You can MAYBE ask them to lower your current rate or stop interest for a while (3-6 months).

It depends whether you want the 0% BT offer or the debt consolidation loan they have posted on their website. Maybe the CSR didn't know which one you wanted.

Talk to a credit analyst at MBNA (search the MBNA at 0% thread) and see if getting a 0% BT offer would be contingent on you paying off and cancelling your other credit cards. If you are not able to pay it down by the promo end period, MBNA will make decent money on interest charges, which may make your case look very favorable to them. This is a lucrative scenario for them compared to the situation for a lot of us who take advantage and pay down the entire balance before the promo ends.

Hope this helps and try to call several times until you get a half-decent CSR who may be able to help you.
