i've never used any products before, i just hope the acne disappears ASAP. but I've grown tired of this garbage so i'm wondering if anyone can give some advice on some product that works! I haven't really done any research on acne, but do they stop popping up after some age? (i'm 19) Is there some product to get rid of them permanently?

Thanks in advance

What kind of acne do you have? Is it the normal zit type or is it cystic? Cystic will be large nodules that are painful and under the skin...

For some people they can break out their whole life.
My mom- her skin still breaks out and she is in her 50's!

It's kind of hard to reccomend something if you are not very specific with what type of acne you have.
I probably have 5 different skin products I use for blemishes- not at once obviously, but depends on how my skin breaks out also.

Might be easir to go ask a medical clinic for skincare samples.

There's not a doctor on this continent that would prescribe Accutane for normal acne because of the risks associated with it.

OP, if you've tried over the counter stuff and it hasn't worked it may be time to go see your family doctor. There are several prescription creams and even low dose antibiotics that can really help. Also the Spectro Jel that Cacti recommended can help as well and is recommended by most doctors for daily cleaning.

when i first started breaking out, doctor recommended me spectro jel. didn't work. went to a dermatologist who then recommended me cetaphil, minocin(an antibiotic) and some benzyol cream. they worked wonders. i eventually went off the minocin and kept using the benzyol cream that was perscribed and it worked well.

now that i'm older, i don't break out much. but i use a clean & clear facewash that contains 5% benzyol peroxide and the persa-gel once in a while.

it took a lot of work to figure out what worked for me. see a dermatologist!

Acne doesn't necessarily go away at any particular age, although it's far less prevalent past the age of 30. Obviously you should have a doctor or pharmacist look at your acne to better assess what would work for you, but I can provide some basic guidelines.

First of all, you want to make sure you are washing your face 2 times per day with a mild soap or soapless cleanser. You should also try to avoid heat, humidity, friction or pressure as these things can all lead to acne. Also, I'm not sure if you are female, but if so, you may want to switch to oil free make up as oil-based cosmetics can lead to breakouts.

Since you have never tried anything for your acne, the best first line treatment is over the counter 5% benzoyl peroxide as it's the most effective OTC product for acne. If after 4-8 weeks, you still have acne, you should see your doctor to get a prescription for something stronger. Just be aware that antibiotics really only work for inflammatory acne and Accutane is probably more trouble than it's worth in all but the most severe cases.

haha...I'm 21 and it didn't stop, and got much worse when I was stressed out at school (midterms and finals time)

anyway, I use some African black rock soap. it's like...$5 per bar and lasts 2 months for me, and leaves me considerably less poor than other products I've tried (proactive, over the counter, and prescription stuff). I think a few different companies make it. probably the best thing I've ever used! :cheesygri

Oh and i found that if you use a product for too long your face gets kinda immune to it so it won't work. I have all these acne products just sitting in my bathroom because of that.
