I saw the same dvd's at a rack a few days ago. Almost every title was $20 then, also for the most part they are the $5 Warner HD titles. So if you already have them on HD, there won't be many different titles.

Unless you bought Transformers, since it's not included in this sale. So It was pretty much transformers for 29.99$ + 2 other movies for 26.99$, which made each movie 13.495$.

I'm no mathematician, but those numbers don't make a lick of sense

Some of the movies on BB website seem to be at $16.99 already.

Blood Diamond (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFSM2128530&catid=24098)

let me break it down for you then:

You buy transformers for 29.99$+tax....you can't get transformers with this sale.

Then you buy another movie for 26.99$+tax

Then you get another movie for FREE.

If you don't count transformers it's 26.99$ for 2 movies = 13.495$ each. I did not count transformers since they are not included in this deal anyways and I had to buy them.

You would have to be an idiot to not spend money on movies you don't want and will never watch, you're getting them for half price!

Glad to hear. I, however, did not see any movies that I wanted to watch. In fact, I was rather annoyed that they decided to have such an uninspired selection of (probably dusty) movies in their promotion.

this should be the price to start w/... $25+ for BD movie is too much...

BTW, a lot of these titles seem to be what they were selling for 2/$40 for the past few mths. sounds like they couldn't get rid of excess stock and are trying to w/ this sale...

there is one at Leslie and Hwy 7.. which i guess is considered GTA.. if u dont have a car, it wouldnt be too bad to get there..subway to finch station. then take the viva Pink east bound from finch station and get off at west beaver creek (just west of leslie) and it should be no more than a 2 min walk from there... hope that helps :)

These are still some good prices for those of us that didn't buy into a format that quickly died and had a fire sale.

It will be quite a while before blu-ray prices are as low the clearance sale prices that are/were available for HD-DVD. Does this mean every blu-ray sale thread for the next few years is going to have someone commenting on how their HD-DVD version was cheaper?

I hope not. I'm already tired of it.

I have both formats, so I can comment either way.

And for the record, there's no discernible differences between the two,
except that HD DVD has better sound codecs and the limited movies available, are exceptionally cheap.

Oh yeah, there's some really amazing facts about how Blu rays have 50gb discs vs HD DVD with 25gb disks,
but all they are using the extra space for is 'extras' like deleted scenes.

Nothing in this post addresses my annoyance with the "I got these much cheaper on HD-DVD" posts that are in pretty much every blu-ray thread I read.

actually in most cases that extra space isn't even used

I was ripping some BD's to my PC and even discs that were BD50 they almost all were < 22gb

so they burn perfectly on to a BD-R/RE SL disc to boot

sb_tor

The extra space in blu-ray discs provides vaious options, like totally uncompressed sound.
The space is not really being used in many discs at the moment though.

Doesn't really make sense why they wouldn't use all the space to up the bitrate of the video...

why is FMJ ****?

this is the re-release not the original release

the reissue is great in both sound and video quality(substantially better than the first)

I was thinking about getting some Blu-rays froim this deal, and then i went to Futureshop website and most(if not all) of these blu-rays are regularly priced @ 19.99$ each. So this sale is not so good after all, unless you want those movies right away. I'am sure we'll see much better sales on these soon enough.
